96 YEARLD OLD MAN WRITES TRIBUTE SONG TO HIS WIFE – This is the story of Fred Stobaugh; it is both touching and tragic for after 75 years of marriage to his wife Lorraine she passed away leave Fred alone at the age of 96.
When Fred lost Lorraine after 75 years of glorious years together he was understandably devastated and decided to enter a singer/songwriter content with a song he had composed in the memory of his late wife.
There was however a couple of minor issues; whilst Fred had written a song he openly admitted he couldn’t play a single instrument and his singing voice would have people running for the hills.
Not to be deterred Fred sent the song off to the studio that was running the competition and so moved were the producers that they agreed to take Fred’s song and professionally record it.
The title of the song is ‘Oh Sweet Lorraine’ and as you will see from the fully story video above, Fred was more than delighted at the final result.
Fred openly admitted that he didn’t expect a reply from the studio as it was after all a competition that was designed to find talent and he certainly wasn’t a musician or a singer.
The man behind getting Fred’s song produced was Jacob Colgan of Green Shoe Studio, who was running the singer/songwriter contest.
Whilst Jacob was expecting an entry for performing artists he was more than a little surprised when Fred’s letter landed on his desk.
After reading the heart-breaking contents Jacob decided that whilst Fred couldn’t technically enter the competition, because he wasn’t a performing artist, that wouldn’t stop Green Shoe Studio from putting Fred’s lyrics to music; and that’s exactly what they did.
This truly is a wonderful story and a story that shows clearly the love Fred had for his wife Lorraine and that their 75 years together were without doubt treasured memories.
