A LESSON IN BRITISH POLITICS – I was actually looking for some political background information on YouTube for an article I was writing about the failings of Government in the UK when I came across this little gem.
Politics by its very nature is an often dry and boring subject for many; however it is a necessary evil, regardless to which country you may reside in.
Politicians, it has been well documented, are similar to a baby’s nappy, both are full of something rather unpleasant with acknowledgement that they wouldn’t be politicians in the first place if they were indeed not full of it.
I often wonder how many people, both British and foreign, really understands British democracy; although using the word ‘democracy’ in today’s governance is a misconception most of the British public have.
Yes we do like to call ourselves democratic but unfortunately the only democracy the British public ever experiences is at the point of an election by making their mark against the person or party they are voting for. Of course this process is only possible after having politicians, and their respective parties, liberally throwing around hollow rhetoric, empty promises and complete lies.
Once a particular party is elected the so-called ‘democratic’ process is placed firmly in the rubbish bin alongside the mountains of nappies that we used during the election process.
So now that we’ve cleared up the farce and misconception that we live in a democracy let’s get down to how British politics, as we know it, all came about.
I am sure, if you watch the video above you will indeed learn an awful lot of British History in the space of just a few minutes. The video is highly entertaining and carries, through humour, a high degree to truth and accuracy.
