A New Cycling Helmet that Could Save Lives

A NEW CYCLING HELMET THAT COULD SAVE LIVES – I have to admit I am one of those people who couldn’t hammer a nail into wood straight.  When it comes to technology and new gadgets I am probably the last person who would own one – I still have the iPhone 3 and it is in pristine condition as it never gets taken out of the case and I rarely use the phone.  Yes, I know I am positively prehistoric.

If you are one of those environmentally conscientious people who cycle to and from work, or just like to cycle to keep fit, then the DORA Safety Helmet is something you should seriously consider.

On that note I came across a new bicycling helmet that’s being sauntered around the press and I have to say I think it’s a great idea.  Like all great ideas these are often reasonably simple and it seems incredulous why nobody has come up with such a device sooner.

  Built In LED Lights

  Front and Rear Lights

  Left and Right Indicator Lights

  Braking Light

The concept is simply to announce your presence on the road and with the indicators tell other road users where you are going.

The DORA helmet is controlled by a Bluetooth switch which is conveniently attached to the handle bars, letting the rider control the indicator lights on the helmet. What is clever is that the indicators, situated on either side of the helmet, also double up as a Brake Light and glow red as opposed to the indicator glowing yellow.

The creator of the helment, Balazs Fliczer, from Hungary, is now looking for investors to help fund the mass product of his invention.

As with any new device this will take a fair amount of marketing but I am sure any cyclist, especially those who cycling in congested city traffic would find the DORA Helmet a most useful addition to their efforts in staying safe on the busy roads.
