AIR TRAVEL IN ECONOMY CLASS COULD GET A WHOLE LOT BETTER – Most people that fly have to suffer the cramped conditions of economy class. Affectionately known as ‘Cattle Class’ due to the way we are crammed in, economy class, especially on those long haul flights is not an experience most of us relish.
The good news is this could soon become a thing of the past thanks to an engineering student from Malaysia, Alireza Yaghoubi who has designed a revolutionary aircraft seat code named AirGo.
The seats are ergonomically designed in such a way that Alireza Yaghoubi states these seats could make air travel as comfortable for economy passengers compared to 1st or Business Class.
I don’t know about you but anything would be a welcome change to the cramped and uncomfortable conditions us poor folk have to endure. I try, as much as humanly possible; to avoid air travel, especially long haul, as either the options of Business or 1st Class is simply way beyond my means.
How good is this design? It is in fact an extremely clever design that takes up only 16% more space than the current seating styles and arrangements found in economy air passenger compartments and won Alireza Yaghoubi the James Dyson Award.
Could this be the next airline seating design? More importantly would this make ‘Cattle Class’ bearable for the millions of long haul air travelers? Let’s be honest, anything has to be an improvement on the current offering by the airlines.
