AIRBUS A330 ENGINE EXPLODES DURING TAKE OFF – Simon Lowe, an aircraft enthusiast, captures an unnerving moment on video as a Thomas Cook Airbus A330 taxis for take-off.
The dramatic scene came as 325 passengers were getting ready to depart Manchester Airport for their holidays in the Dominican Republic.
As the A330 prepares to take-off you can clearly see the right side engine catch fire and explode in a cloud of smoke.
The captain brought the A330 under control and advised Air Traffic Control tower who immediately dispatched the fire and rescue services.
While the aircraft had not left the ground experts say that the A330 would still have been capable of operating on its remaining engine in the event it had taken off; allowing it to circle and land safely in such an event.
The Thomas Cook flight TCX314 suffered no casualties however a number of passengers where notably disturbed and upset by the incident.
Thomas Cook gave a press statement that assured the public that a full investigation will be implemented in order to establish the cause of the incident.
