AMY AND SAMY BOUZAGLO PROBABLY THE WORST RESTAURATEURS IN THE WORLD – I’m a bit of a fan of Gordon Ramsey and the show Kitchen Nightmares; where Gordon Ramsey attempts to help turn around failing restaurants.
With each show there are highs and lows, plenty of bad language, tears and laughter but generally resulting in the owners making positive changes that help their restaurants to survive.
Not once has Gordon Ramsey ever walked away from couple; yes he’s walked out on a few in frustration and even threatened to quit on them but he’s always returned and the outcome is generally very positive.
That track record changed when he was called in to Amy’s Baking Company, owned and operated by husband and wife team Amy and Samy Bouzaglo.
How, or more importantly, where do you start in describing the two? Liars; that the most prevalent part of the episode as neither would know the truth or face up to it if their very lives depended on it. I suspect they’ve spent so many years lying to one another and themselves that they sincerely believe the lies they tell.
Samy is an unusual character who is currently under investigation by the U.S Immigration Authorities and faces the threat of being sent back to Israel after authorities discovered he served 15 years imprisonment, in both Germany and France, after being convicted of drug trafficking.
Samy likes to think of himself as a gangster and even threatens Gordon Ramsey; as you will see in the video above.
As for Amy bouzaglo, she’s neurotic, delusional and likely to be clinically insane for as the show unfolds her behaviour simply does not display any signs of rationality; watch the video above and you’ll see she’s even convinced she speaks feline – yes Amy honestly believes she can communicate with her cats.
One of the major issues Gordon Ramsey uncovered was that servers are denied the tips they receive from customers. Amy has feverously denied that she and Samy take the tips that servers are given by customers despite the fact that Gordon Ramsey challenged Samy on camera over the issue in which he admitted that servers didn’t get the tips he did as he does most of the work.
Amy however, changed her tune on that subject on a number of occasions; firstly denying it saying that it was just vile rumours by ex-staff to harm the business and then admitting that staff tips are not provided as staff contracts state that employees are paid hourly.
The famous cakes in Amy Baking Company are also a complete fabrication by Samy and Amy Bouzaglo. Amy looked Gordon Ramsey in the face when they first met and declared that she personally made the cakes. It later transpired, through ex-staff allegations, that Amy buys all the cakes in from specialist suppliers but openly tells customers that she was the one who makes them.
From the outset it appears not a word of truth was spoken by Amy or Samy and again I doubt they don’t know what the truth is. Within the first 15 minutes of the episode it is clear that Amy cannot take any form of criticism and when Gordon Ramsey attempted to explain her failings she would go into a childish tantrum; it’s no way for anyone to run a business, well that’s not unless you want to run it into the ground.
As the show unfolds I was left continuously shaking my head in disbelief; in all my years I have never seen a person so self-righteous and in deep denial as Amy Bouzaglo; she is, I suspect, psychotic, maybe even schizophrenic; just watch carefully how her personality changes when she deals with staff and Gordon’s criticisms.
As for the staff it amazes me why anyone would want to work at Amy’s Baking Company. Amy’s employee contract has to be one of the most ridiculous and outrageous I have ever seen and I doubt any judge would uphold most of what is included if any employee where ever taken to court; most of the contract is simply unreasonable.
Amy also has a problem with what she refers to as ‘online haters’. According to Amy it started off with a customer who blogged about his experience in the restaurant; which according to Amy was all lies.
Within five minutes of meeting Amy and Samy, Gordon Ramsey got his first taste of things to come as Amy excitedly regaled escapades of her war with the ‘online haters’. You will see from the video that Gordon Ramsey was taken aback and really didn’t know if this was a joke; his reaction was both amusement and shock all rolled into one.
There now appears a continuous stream of press about Amy’s Baking Company and according to Amy the show has helped the restaurant flourish; I guess there are people out there that like to be abused.
Amy says that she is still battling with the ‘online haters’ and that a number of cases are being investigated by the police and the FBI.
There is no doubt that Amy and Samy’s antics have brought them notoriety but it’s likely it won’t have any longevity due to its openly hostile nature. As with all these types of 15 minutes of fame the candle will quickly burn out and ultimately I don’t think there are that many people who want to pay for a night out and be presented with inedible food and abused in the process.
Yes, it is a novelty at presents; even Amy recently said that they were now having T shirts made up with “Here’s your pizza now go f*** yourself”; not exactly endearing towards paying customers but that appears to be Amy’s neurotic attitude towards any paying customer walking in her restaurant.
