ANONYMOUS HACKING GROUP VOW TO UNMASK THE FOUR RESPONSIBLE FOR RAPING REHTAEH PARSONS – Yesterday I wrote about the terrible tragedy of Rehtaeh Parsons who was raped at the age of 15 by four boys in her school; but they didn’t stop there.
During her ordeal the four took vile photographs and then posted them on Facebook for everyone to see. It wasn’t long before the trolls came out of the wood work and began a hate and torment campaign that would tragically lead to this beautiful young woman, at just 17 years old, to take her own life.
At the time of the rape the authorities appeared obtuse to Rehteah’s cry for justice with the authorities saying there was little evidence to support her claims. However it now appears that the Anonymous Hacking Group have taken Rehtaeh’s suicide to heart and have threatened to expose the identities of the four boys behind her rape and the vile images and taunts posted on Facebook.
According to Twitter statements Anonymous have announced they already know two of the culprits and that they were in the process of confirming the identity of another. It is, as they said, only a matter of time until they have the confirmed identities of all four.
There is chatter about the internet with a consensus that the track record of Anonymous speaks for itself and that it would be wise that this threat isn’t treated with the utmost seriousness and that the Canadian Authorities would be wise to make a public statement announcing a full investigation into the rape and Facebook abuse.
Anonymous is now openly calling on the people of Halifax to protest outside the Royal Canadian Mounted Police headquarters in Halifax calling for a full investigation. In another development a petition has been created and signed by over 65,000 people calling for a Public Inquiry of the handling of Rehtaeh Parsons rape.
Anonymous have started a post string called ‘Operation Justice for Rehtaeh’ and giving updates on Twitter as to their progress in unmasking the four boys involved.
Anonymous made the following statement…
“Our demands are simple: We want the N.S. (Nova Scotia) RCMP to take immediate legal action against the individuals in question. We encourage you to act fast. If we were able to locate these boys within 2 hours, it will not be long before someone else finds them.
We do not approve of vigilante justice as the media claims. That would mean we approve of violent actions against these rapists at the hands of an unruly mob. What we want is justice. And that’s your job. So do it.
The names of the rapists will be kept until it is apparent you have no intention of providing justice to Rehtaeh’s family. Please be aware that there are other groups of Anons also attempting to uncover this information and they may not to wish to wait at all. Better act fast.
You will be held accountable for your failure to act.” Anonymous
You can find out more about this on Twitter through the hashtag #opJustice4Rehtaeh. Let’s just hope that Rehtaeh and her family get justice.
UPDATE - Rehtaeh Parsons mother has called on the media and Anonymous not to create a situation for a vigilantes to take actions into their own hands – see video feature at top.
