ARMED BRITISH POLICE OFFICERS PATROLLING OUR STREETS – It is more like a scene from an American city rather than a housing estate in Britain but today Armed Police are now patrolling a town in Bedfordshire as it suffers increasing violent crime and where there have been nine gang shootings in just the last four months.
What have we turned the UK into? Why have we allowed society to become so depraved that we now need armed police on our streets?
You would think, looking at the pictures below that these police officers were called out on high-alert over a shooting but that is not the case. These armed officers are merely on patrol after a spate of violent gang shootings.
The armed officers patrol a local playground and just yards from a primary school in a housing estate now plagued with gang violence. In just the last four months the housing estates of Marsh Farm and Lewsey Farm have experienced scenes that you might have only read about in places such as Los Angeles in which some neighbourhoods are bathed in the blood of gangland shootings as rival gangs hunt down and murder one another.
Saturday 11th May 2013 was the day yet another gang shooting occurred in the area with a 16 year old boy being shot in the back. While the boy survived the shooting doctors have said it is unlikely he will ever walk again.
Local residents are now so frightened that they dare not venture out and most now welcome the sight of armed police officers patrolling the streets; something that would have been unheard of 5 years ago.
One local resident commented to reporters that while the sight of an armed police officer is not what she ever wanted to see it is however reassuring that our children are being protected.
The heavily armed police officers are also accompanied by police dogs as they patrol the areas around the housing estates and residents now feel safe enough to once again venture outside their homes.
The armed police officers certainly do look intimidating with their Heckler and Koch G36C assault rifles that fire 5.56mm calibre ammunition, which is capable of piercing body armour.
When reporters questioned local residents the feelings were a mixture of fear and reassurance. Many felt that the estates have become a cesspit of crime that often involves shootings and that police officers armed with just taser guns is simply not enough of a deterrent and that times are changing and therefore the public must accept the fact that seeing armed police officers on our streets will become a more common sight.
The police have also initiated ‘stop and search’ under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 which allows police officers to stop and search anyone without suspicion.
It is a sad but obvious truth that British society has become far more violent. With the ever increasing push for a multicultural society where clear evidence shows that we are becoming more and more segregated is it little wonder that violent crime continues to rise. Add to the mix the failings of our immigration system where known criminals and organised crime syndicates are permitted residency then it is only too obvious that crime will continue to rise and that armed police officers will be an everyday occurrence on the streets of the United Kingdom.
