BARONESS ASHTON AND THE CUSHY EU JOB AT THE EXPENSE OF THE TAXPAYER– Yes I know I sometimes sound like an old broken record that plays the same old song ‘Let’s get out of the EU.’
If I am not arguing the case over immigration issues, then I’m arguing it over spending policy and this yet again falls under ‘incompetent’ government officials and the waste of taxpayers’.
I am really beginning to see my shortcomings. I really should have gone to school with other members of the ‘old boys’ network’ and then maybe I could have received a job where it would have been irrelevant if I was competent or not and it certainly would have been no concern whether I actually lifted a finger.
Today it was announced that Baroness Ashton is about to be given yet another job. Her current role as the EU’s Foreign Policy Chief, has already been called into question; and not on just one occasion neither.
Her current role rakes in £400,000 for her 3 year contact, a bill picked up by the hard working and hard pressed UK taxpayer. As her tenure ends next year she will be in line for a golden goodbye handshake worth £133,000 a YEAR until the end of 2017 – so for the next few years Baroness Ashton will be paid, by the taxpayer, for doing absolutely nothing. Makes me wonder if we have the right to moan about the welfare scroungers; after all compared to the parasites in Government jobs, they get a pittance in comparison to Baroness Ashton and other officials.
Of course it does get better. Baroness Ashton will retire in 2021 but that still won’t alleviate the burden on the taxpayer. In fact she is going to be entitled to a platinum plated pension worth £61,000 a year and again all courtesy of the British taxpayer.
A number of MP’s in the House of Commons have protested; one even suggested that Baroness Ashton should be paying back the taxpayer considering her performance and incompetence over the last few years.
Of course this is all conjecture, hot air and political rhetoric by those in the House as it is apparent that if any of these lot were given the opportunity to fleece the taxpayer (and most do through their inflated expense accounts) they would jump at the chance.
Austerity appears to be a word spoken by politicians, forced on the people by politicians and then ignored by politicians for the own personal gain. Austerity? There’s not a politician who could even begin to comprehend its meaning let alone implement it with regards to their own spending.
Yes of course there has to be some noise in the House over this blatant misappropriation of taxpayers’ money but that, like most things the taxpayer finds offensive, will soon the side-stepped, avoided and then swiftly swept under the carpet.
Considering Baroness Ashton’s competency as the EU’s Foreign Policy Chief it is certainly not unreasonable for MP’s and the taxpayer to question the payments. Indeed my EU diplomats have questioned her competence in her role and even noted her high level of absenteeism during her tenure.
I am afraid that while we remain in the EU we will simply have to accept that David Cameron is going to make sure his old school chums are well looked after. Sir David Nicholson is a clear case and while MP’s and the public have demanded Cameron sack Nicholson due to his incompetence Cameron has steadfastly refused to do so. So much for the UK being a democracy.
The EU is nothing more than a complete waste of taxpayers’ money and where most ‘failed’ politicians and bureaucrats go when they fail at any other Government job.
Of course the mainstream EU bureaucrats stepped in to defend the payment and her position; but they would. Any sign that the EU is full of useless and incompetent morons would indeed put their own jobs in a very precarious position.
Something for you to consider, if you think the EU is actually a good idea…
Baroness Ashton, under EU regulations for MEPs and Bureaucrats, will be subjected to paying tax on her earnings but yet whereas the hard working taxpayer, on this level of remuneration would be subjected to 40%, Baroness Ashton will only have to pay 13.5%, which is yet another slap in the face to the taxpayer.
Is it really worth working at all I ask myself? The answer to that is yes providing you have old school chums in government because at the rate Ashton gets paid and the poultry amount of tax levied, it is obvious that being incompetent, lazy, inept and moronic really does pay off.
Wait a minute… she’s a Baroness, which also means that she can sit all day in the House of Lords and pick up yet another £300 a day, at the expense of the taxpayer, for doing absolutely nothing.
Well there you have it, or don’t actually because it’s being paid to Baroness Ashton and hundreds like her.
Just remember when you finish work (that’s real work) and go home exhausted, knowing that the simple pleasures in life, such as having a pint with your friends is out of the question because you are being taxed to death, take note that while you toil for nothing these lot are living it up at your expense.
