BOY FOUR RAPED BY STEPFATHER WHEN VISTING HIM IN PRISON – Sabrina Bonner, 25, has been convicted by a Toul Court, in France, for allowing and assisting Lionel Barthelemy to rape her 4 year old son whilst visiting Barthelemy in prison.
The French mother was reported to have blindfolded and held down the child whilst Barthelemy brutally raped the boy.
During the trial prosecutors described Sabrina Bonner as a sadistic and vile individual who forced the child to kneel on a chair whilst Barthelemy raped him.
The offenses took place over several years in which Bonner allowed Barthelemy to rape her son repeatedly each time they visited him at the Toul detention centre.
Barthelemy was currently serving out a prison sentence since 2009 after being found guilty of a violent attack.
During the trial, both Bonner and Barthelemy admitted to multiple counts of rape and sexual assault on the boy over a four year period.
At one point during the trial members of the jury were subjected to video evidence of the boy being raped. The prosecution told the jury that the video had been filmed by Bonner in the prison’s visiting room on her mobile phone. She then gave the mobile phones memory card to Barthelemy as a memento.
During the trail the case raised a number of serious questions as to why prison staff failed to stop the abuse; or indeed notice that such a brutal act was being performed.
According to prison authorities all visits by family members and friends must be supervised when a prisoner has been convicted of a violent crime. Barthelemy was also diagnosed as being schizophrenic which also requires French prison officers to supervise any visits a prisoner may have.
During the lengthy investigation officers discovered that black bin liners had been used by the couple to block out windows and glass panels on the doors of the visiting room.
On completion of the trial the lawyer representing the boy, Mr. Yannick Pheulpin, told reporters that he now intended to initiate legal proceedings against the French Prison Authorities in order to hold them fully accountable for the boys suffering.
Despite pleading duress, in which Bonner told the court Barthelemy had forced her to assist in the rapes under threat of violence, the jury found her guilty on all counts and she was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.
