BRITAIN’S VILEST INTERNET TROLL EXPOSED – There are none so cowardly than the internet trolls. They lurk in anonymity preying and feeding off the misery of others in order to satisfy their own sick need for attention.
To be honest I am convinced that we should feel sorry for internet trolls as it is obvious these are sad little people who really do not have much of a life and who are most likely to have been shunned by society.
One of Britain’s vilest internet trolls however has now been exposed as Robert Ambridge who used the alias ‘Old Holborn’ on his Twitter account.
Robert Ambridge likes to see himself as a satirical terrorist and has been responsible for making the most heinous comments about a number of atrocities including the Hillsborough disaster, the Boston marathon bombings and even the James Bulger murder.
Over the years Robert Ambridge has received hundreds of death threats due to his vile comments. Thousands of people were completely and utterly outraged over a number of twitter posts on the Hillsborough disaster where Robert Ambridge, disguised by his plastic pig mask, posted pictures to two fat women and declared ‘these are the two that crushed the 96’.
Robert Ambridge, 51, would appear by neighbours as a normal kind of guy. He works (or at lead did until the firm sacked him) as a recruitment consultant, has six children and lives in a rather dilapidated home in Braintree, Essex. Unfortunately Robert Ambridge is not the man the neighbours thought he was.
After the murder of two year old James Bulger, Robert Ambridge took again to his vile rants that deeply upset James Bulger’s mother – I refused to repeat what was said out of respect for the Bulger family.
Robert Ambridge appears unrepentant for this internet troll messages and gave the following statement;
“It is not my responsibility what other people find upsetting. I didn’t target anyone. I didn’t send an email. They chose to read what I wrote. If they don’t like it, they should turn it off. I don’t care what people find offensive.
This is dark humour. People might not like my humour but I think it is funny and it gets a chuckle.” Robert Ambridge
It may seem incredible but such is Robert Ambridge infamy that ITV took the decision to make a documentary about him called ‘Fear and Loathing Online’ where Robert Ambridge agreed to be filmed without his infamous pig mask.
Robert Ambridge appears completely unrepentant to any comments he has ever made and likens internet trolling to going fishing where any old bait will do to lure in the fish.
Currently police and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) are considering pursuing a case of criminal communication against Robert Ambridge but there are some that feel that Robert Ambridge, despite his vile comments, has a right to free expression.
Internet trolling is certainly a growing trend where people feel they can say anything to anyone in complete anonymity. This growing trend is however costing lives and a number of reports, such as issues with the Ask FM website, are causing concern among the public and authorities.
There are those, such as Professor Mary Beard, who don’t take internet trolls likely and after receiving a number of disturbing messages on her Twitter account she took action and with the help of other Twitter users managed to expose the troll.
If you are ever subjected to internet trolls the best thing to do is to ignore it and report the incident to the websites administrators and the police.
At meebal.com we often write about some fairly controversial subjects and we have been targeted on a number of occasions by internet trolls. However we are all pretty thick skinned (or just thick according to the trolls) but we simply take the attitude that the perpetrators are just a sad little individuals who obviously haven’t seen sunlight in decades and therefore whilst we do not reply to such comments we do feel sorry for them; in fact we have a sympathy wall with the title… “There for the grace of the heavens go I.”
