BRITISH SUBMARINE SPOTTED OFF THE COAST OF GIBRALTAR – According to the website shipspotting.com there have been reports that HMS Tireless, a Trafalgar Class Nuclear Submarine, was spotted in Gibraltar after surfacing.
It is widely accepted that there is only one reason a submarine needs to be seen and that is to send a clear message that retribution lays just beneath the surface.
The Ministry of Defence neither confirmed nor denied the report although they did point out that if one of Britain’s nuclear submarines was in Gibraltar then it was for standard exercises.
A number of people reported seeing the submarine on Saturday and assumed it was a show of strength to the citizens of Gibraltar after Spain’s insistent sabre rattling over the last couple of months.
The Spanish continue to deny that Britain has any rights over Gibraltar and dispute the fishing rights around the Mediterranean enclave.
David Cameron, the British Prime Minister, has continuously asked the Spanish Government to climb down from its threats of charging residents of Gibraltar fees to cross the Spanish border an act that has been established to be illegal under European Law.
Some quarters have even voice their disdain over Spain’s recent activities with some suggesting Spain wouldn’t have a country at all if Britain, along with other European Nations, hadn’t of bail them out of their last financial crisis due to the ongoing incompetence of the Spanish Government.
