Daniel Tammet: Math Genius - Daniel Tammet is quite an ordinary fellow to look at, although he has a rather extraordinary gift. Daniel at a very early age suffered from epileptic seizures and was later diagnosed with autistic savant and Asperger syndrome.
Daniel’s brain is also unique in that it is capable, unlike most human brains, with communicating with other parts of the brain simultaneously allowing him to absorb and retain vast amounts of information.
Daniel was once asked if he could memorize the math Pi π equation, well the first 22,000 number anyway. After studying the string of numbers just once, he was then asked to recite them in front of an expert panel of mathematicians, who checked off each number. After 5 hours and 30 minutes Daniel had recalled all 22,000 numbers without a single mistake.
Daniel also speaks eight languages fluently and was ask, as you will see in the video above, if he thought he could learn Icelandic in just one week. Icelandic is one of the most complex languages on earth and is almost impossible for any foreigner to learn, however in true genius style Daniel learned to speak and was interviewed on Icelandic television speaking Icelandic most to the astonishment of the audience and linguistic experts.
Daniel is quite a remarkable individual and I am sure you will find the video immensely entertaining and astonishing.
