DISABILITY LIVING ALLOWING REFORMS FAILING TO STEM WASTING TAXPAYER MONEY – Over 140,000 people are claiming Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for backache, drug or alcohol abuse and even asthma.

The whole idea of the DLA reforms was to ensure that those receiving the benefit were indeed in real need, such as people like Martine White, of Burnley, Lancaster, who is not only Thalidomide but she is also blind in one eye – remarkably the DWP initially turned down her claim.
Unfortunately, and as we have become accustomed with our Governments incompetence, there are those who continuously sponge off the welfare system which the taxpayer is continuously forced to support through Government legislation.
According to the Government the DLA is designed to help those who have real health issues, such as not being able to walk unaided or having problems washing or dressing themselves but as the latest figures show, it is obvious that anyone applying for DLA is likely to get it without question.
One part of DLA is the mobility payment, which is worth up to £55.25 a week and this was handed out to 140,000 people allegedly suffering from back pain. It’s the oldest trick in the book, simply go and visit your doctor, put on a grimace, tell him or her you have back pain and Bob’s your aunties live in lover you have access to DLA payments.
If you are one of the millions of hard working taxpayers you might be wondering why the Government, for all their reform rhetoric, allows drug abusers and alcoholics entitlement to DLA payments.
Again this is just another way to abuse the welfare system and it’s currently being abused by over 18,000 so-called sufferers. I don’t remember personally forcing drugs or alcohol on anyone and yet like any other taxpayer I’m forced to support their inability to work due to their self induced addiction.
So much for welfare reforms and austerity measures as the figures clearly show that there are now 3.2 million people claiming DLA and it is set to rise to 3.5 million by 2015; which coincidentally falls on the election year when we can finally get rid of David Cameron, Nick Clegg and the debacle of their incompetent coalition.
It’s always nice to add up the pounds and pennies, well that is if you have managed to scrape together a few pounds and pennies for your annual holiday; and that’s unlikely considering your tax bill continues to leave you bereft as to why you bother working. However I’m not talking about adding up the money for your holiday but rather the depressing fact that the annual DLA cost to the taxpayer currently stands at £13.2 billion and rising.
The debacle will continue as the Government have yet to reform the current system with the new Personal Independence Payments (PIP) which is currently being opposed by medical charities and disability groups – I just hope that these groups, along with the Government, will consider the position of the taxpayer as well as those who are ‘rightfully’ entitled due to their disability.
