FEDERAL AUTHORITIES CLOSING IN AS BOSTON MARATHON BOMBER IS TRAPPED BY PHONE – Federal authorities are honing in on a prime suspect of the Boston Bombing after video footage reveals a man in a nearby department store talking on his phone just moments before the blast.
It is believed that the authorities have found the identity of the person through phone records. Reuters have reported that law enforcement sources have confirmed that the FBI wants to speak to the person to determine his role in the bombing if any.
During the video footage the man, approximately 6 feet, 2 inches tall, is seen placing a backpack on the ground. Moments later the bomb detonated ripping through the innocent crowds as they watched the Marathon participants reach the winning line.
Currently the FBI has stated that “No arrests have been made in connection with the bombing.” The phone records are now being combed through in order to find the identity of the man in the video.
The bombs were a crude but effective device and designed to inflict maximum causalities. Constructed from a pressure cooker that was packed with explosives, ball bearings and metal shards the perpetrator had no intention other that killing and maiming people for life.
Three people lost their lives, including Martin Richard, who was just 8 years old, Krystle Campbell and finally the identity of the third victim was revealed as Lu Lingzi, a Chinese girl studying at the Boston University.
Another young boy of just 5 years of age still lies in a hospital bed in critical condition fighting for his life. Prayers and messages of hope are reaching his bedside and a nation is routing that this little boy will not be the fourth victim of this atrocity.
Last night a vigil was held by hundreds of people who gathered to remember those who were murdered in what is no doubt the worse terrorist attack since 9/11.
Authorities are now combing video footage looking for people carrying and then not carrying backpacks in order to pinpoint potential suspects; the FBI and local authorities continue to work around the clock and are determined to bring whoever is responsible to justice.
At one point during the video footage, obtained from a nearby department store, it clearly shows a man dropping a bag near the point of second explosion and then quickly moving away. One source told the Associated Press that the authorities do have a suspect but as yet they are unaware of the person’s name or location.
The authorities appear, at this point, split over whether detailed information about the suspect should be released to the public. The dilemma is that if a suspect knows he could be identified he may run; however on the other side of the coin is that having millions of people on the lookout could in fact result in the persons capture very quickly.
There certainly has been confusion among the press with CNN reporting that an arrest had been made and then withdrawing the statement.
Associated Press however also reported the same thing and has further reported that it stands by its original report that someone had indeed been taken into custody.
There also appears confusion over the man in the video footage with some reporting he was ‘dark-skinned’ while other stated that man was white. As yet nothing has been confirmed by the authorities who are leading to the conspiracy theorists to jump on the story and provide their views.
Authorities at this time are urging the media not to fall foul of wild speculation that could mislead the public or worse impede the investigation.
Authorities are sifting through a number of photographs taken by an amateur photographer who took pictures from a nearby office building. The images show a man running away from the scene but as yet the authorities have given no indication as to whether the man is a suspect or not.
It has been announced that the blast was extremely strong as investigators have located parts of the device across a wide area; including its lid which was located on a roof top some 35 yards from the point of detonation.
It was a guest at the Charlesmark Hotel that discovered the lid, initially thinking it was a hub-cap from a vehicle that was damaged in the blast. The guest handed the item over to the local police who then questioned the person extensively before releasing him. The FBI has stated that this is a crucial piece of evident and it has now been sent to the forensic laboratory.
Investigations are continuing but the Federal and Local Authorities have stated that no stone will be left unturned in order to find those responsible.
