HELP THESE KIDS FIND A HOME – You may have heard of the Rohingya and then again you may not. Before you just click another link to read something else or leave Meebal.com I would implore you to spare me a few minutes of your time and together we may be able to achieve something rather special, and it doesn’t involve making any type of financial donation.
At Meebal.com we have been following the plight of the Rohingya people. The Rohingya are a race that has been systematically murdered and persecuted by a number of Asian countries, including Myanmar (Burma), Thailand and Bangladesh, but to name a few.
Unlike the mainstream Buddhist population, of Myanmar and Thailand the Rohingya people are Muslims. After decades of abuse, at the hands of the so called peaceful Buddhists in Myanmar, these people are now fleeing the country only to find themselves at the mercy of other countries, such as Thailand – it really is like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire.
It was not 5 years after the World poured billions of dollars in to countries, such as Thailand, in order to help it recover from the 2004 Tsunami, that it was discovered that Thailand had initiated a covert Government Policy which ordered the Royal Thai Navy to seek out and disable any boats carrying Rohingya fleeing from the tyranny and oppression from Myanmar.
The true figures of how many men, women and children the Thais murdered during this period of covert ‘Push Backs’ is unknown, however since being found out the Thai Government has changed its policies, however these changes still grossly violate the UN’s Human Rights Convention and the UN and the world continue to turn a blind eye or look the other way in order to maintain cordial diplomatic relations with Thailand and Myanmar.
Many of the Rohingya fall into the hands of Thais who then sell them into slave labor or prostitution, many are murdered when trying to escape their captors, who, as it was recently reported, are Thai Army Officials.
At Meebal.com we are not alone in the belief that the UN, and the rest of the world, is simply not doing enough to help the Rohingya. While Thailand and Myanmar continue to break UN regulations they have still received almost no penalties or sanctions for their atrocities and they continue to benefit from very lucrative trade agreements.
Our goal is to spread the word about the plight of these people and their children. A child is just a child and no child should be persecuted by anyone – remember what was said here, many are being sold into slavery by the Thais and often this includes prostitution. We want this article to be spread so that it shames the UN and other countries to impose harsh trade and other sanctions against Myanmar and Thailand until they stop committing these atrocities and give these people and their children a home.
