HUMAN RIGHTS LAWS REVEAL THE IGNORANCE OF MANKIND – It is apparent to me that mankind should know when it is real trouble; that being when others dictate that legislation needs to be invoked in order to make us act in a civilized way towards one another.
The introduction of Human Rights law is seen by many as a tribute to our humanity in so much as it is now written how we treat and respect one another. For me it is nothing short of a testament as to how far mankind has fallen into the depths of an ignorant, violent and thoroughly depraved society.
In the 1950′s, the American the people feared the African Americans, in the 1960′s it was the communists, and in the 2000′s it was and remains today, the Islamic terrorists. Yes, America pretty much since 1940, has been a nation gripped in fear from one social element or another.
We often dream of a global village where there are no borders, the European Union is a prime example, but is it practical or even responsible to attempt at such a creation.
The notion that the color of a person’s skin affects the way in which they view the world is frankly short-sighted and absurd. There are two elements that shape the majority of a person’s thinking; these being ‘culture’ and ‘religion’.
Another vital element of the equation is that of Government indoctrination; that is we are schooled into viewing the world around us in a certain way – obviously within our cultural and religious beliefs.
If educating us fails, then Government can always use their ultimate social weapon – fear – which then allows the Government to use ‘force’, not physical force but rather force through legislating every aspect of our lives.
Since the atrocities and persecution of the Jews by the Nazi regime during World War 2 it appears to me that mankind didn’t learn anything from the heinous acts carried out by Hitler and his SS military division.
It wasn’t until 1945, a full three years after the United Nations was formed, did it start to lay down foundations of International Law that member nations were expected to abide by; and much of the legislation created was in the area of Human Rights – the Jewish Holocaust, it could be argued, was the catalyst to developing Human Rights laws.
It appears incredulous to me that mankind actually needed to legislate what is little more that ‘respect’; that is simply acknowledging that we are different – not by the color of skin but rather by culture and religion; although it appears as such that this is lost in translation which is why Human Rights, when there is a conflict, drags up the argument of racism or bigotry which are still mainly seen as issues with the color of a person’s skin.
When looking at the vast amount of laws created in order to give each and every one of us the right to life in a law abiding society that does not discriminate against race, sex or religious belief it only further cements my belief that mankind is heading for disaster and that if mankind is wiped out, then the planet would be a much nicer place without us for in the history of this planet it has only ever been mankind who attempts to kill one another through ignorance, greed and outright depravity – have you ever heard of a Lion that is a serial killer or Sperm Whale that discriminates against Blue Whales?
Yes, the very notion or suggestion of the idea is completely absurd and yet it is a stark and revealing portrait of mankind.
What has driven mankind to the point where it feels people need mountains of legislation just to garner respect for our fellow man?
Fear, ignorance and despair. That is the only logical conclusion anyone can possibly come up with for allowing lawmakers to force us into a situation that not only shouldn’t need enforcement in modern times but has also exasperated the issues of cultural and religious divide further still.
If you think ‘fear’ is a little off the mark then watch the video below – Fast forward the video to 52m and 40s into the documentary and within a few seconds a short cartoon will be played. This short cartoon may well reveal why killing in the U.S has reached epidemic proportions and it is all based on fear. If you have time, then the entire video is extremely revealing into why the U.S has such an issue with gun violence in modern society.
I might be a social romantic but I sincerely believe that mankind not only doesn’t have to live in fear or indeed be legislated to force us to respect one another but I sincerely believe that as the Human Rights laws burgeon it will inevitably create a divide of hate and distrust, fueled by fear, that will eventually be the catalyst for the demise of any remnants of civilization as we know it.
