INSIDE AIR FORCE ONE – Air Force One is the most iconic aircraft on the planet with the sole mission of transporting and protecting the President of the United States (POTUS).
The video above takes you on a journey like no other with an inside view of how Air Force One operates and serves the President.
It is simply amazing to think that there is not just one Air Force One, but in fact two, the other on continuous standby as a back-up in the event Air Force One was to experience any technical problems.
Built on the air-frame of the Boeing 747 the similarities stop there for Air Force One is a fly fortress and a command center for the President and his staff.
On that fateful day in New York, September 11th 2001 the President was due to fly on a routine visit, however the mornings news changed all that. Within hours Air Force One was the only aircraft flying anywhere in the skies above North America.
9/11 detailed a number of short-comings of Air Force One, such as the ability to talk to the people by a live televised feed. Since 9/11 Air Force One has been completely refitted to include such a facility and other highly top secret installations that make Air Force One the place for the President in times of a national crisis.
The video above, is the remarkable work of National geographic, who in my view produce some of the best documentaries in with world.
