IS RELIGION APPROPRIATE IN THE MODERN AGE? – A little over 2,000 years ago a single man ventured on a crusade to convince the masses that we were all children of a supreme being; his name was Jesus Christ and the supreme being, our father, was God.
There were many, most notably the Romans, who feared Jesus and therefore captured him, tortured him and finally nailed him to a cross where he died.
According to legend, Jesus, as he perished on the cross uttered the words; “Forgive them Father for they know not what they do.”
It was a poignant message; one of understanding, love, peace and above all forgiveness.
As Jesus died on the cross another historical moment arose – it was reported that his blood was captured in a cup. Today this cup is referred to by a number of names, including ‘The Cup of Christ’ and ‘The Holy Grail’
Some have disputed this over the centuries with many believing that the Holy Grail was not a cup but rather the womb of Mary Magdalene who carried the unborn child of Jesus Christ – something the Catholic Church not only denied but has spent centuries attempting to cover up.
Is this true or is it, like Jesus Christ, simply a myth; a story concocted by man in order to control the masses?
During the life of Jesus Christ and even after his death there was no mention of his divinity; he was not considered the Son of God but rather just a man – a mortal man.
As wars raged over the next three hundred years between Christians, Pagans and other religious believers millions of people died.
However the numbers of Christians grew and finally the Roman Emperor Constantine, in 325AD, at the Council of Nicea, finally gave Jesus Christ his divinity and named him as the living heir of God.
The Catholic Church was now officially born and over the next 700 years the Bible was written to reflect the works and teachings of Jesus Christ – I wonder what his thoughts would have been over such a fabrication and whether he would approve of the bloodshed that was to follow and continue even in modern society.
Since 325AD the Catholic Church engaged in a campaign against mankind in order to convert them into believing a higher power exists. The tools for such a campaign were nothing short of barbaric, including burning people alive at the stake and ordering crusades that wiped out millions of Muslims – and you wonder why Muslims, or at least the fundamentalists, want to murder us all?
The Catholic Church has been responsible for most of the worlds atrocities against mankind and yet it has managed to position itself in almost every facet of everyday life; indeed look at any item of American currency and there you will see the words; “In God We Trust”.
The indoctrination by the Church that we are all God’s children was never implemented with love, peace, understanding or forgiveness but rather fear.
We have been told that unless we follow the teachings of Christ and give to the Church we will forever burn in the fires of hell – even today the use of ‘Go to hell’ is most prevalent.
Of course the teachings from the Bible are almost identical to that of the Koran where martyrs are told that killing a non-Muslim will assure you a place in Paradise; surrounded by seven virgins.
During one of the bloodiest periods of mankind the Church set about attempting to eradicate Muslims from the earth – these were the Crusades and those engaged in them were told by the Church that this was God’s work and dying in God’s name would assure them a place in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Christians and Muslims, when you look close enough, are no better than each other; both have an ideology whereby their God is the supreme being and that anyone who fails to convert is unholy and therefore not worthy of God’s grace.
Regardless to what God you may believe in it is incredulous to think that such a notion of a higher being is accepted in the modern day.
After 2,000 years nobody has ever been able to provide a shred of evidence that God exists. Yes it could be argued that this is the very principle of having faith. It is, as religious leaders will argue, the ability to trust in others to deliver the truth that there is indeed something for us when we shuffle off our mortal coil.
I often wondered if it would be possible to convince anyone to buy a $10 million home on the principle of faith. That is finding someone to buy into something without actually seeing it or indeed knowing if it actually exists.
Yes the notion is absurd, for anyone would require absolute proof and certainly have their lawyers confirm not only its existence but also its validity.
There are, in modern times, approximately 1 billion Christians and yet not one of them has the ability to confirm the existence of God and yet despite this fact they hand over billions of dollars each year to an organisation that not only tells them to have faith but also takes the lives of others in such an entities name.
I am afraid Christianity, along with Islam and almost any other faith you care to mention, is built upon the foundation of fear – love, peace, understanding and above all forgiveness has nothing to do with the indoctrination of religion.
In the United States today a vast number of the population will preach of a higher being. With this preaching will come the rhetoric of love, peace, understanding and forgiveness and yet the U.S stinks of fear – it is, for all their proclamations of being a mighty nation, a country full of extremely fearful people.
Last year alone there were over 12,000 gun related murders. Most Americans own a gun and barricade themselves in their homes behind a wall of ever increasing security measures.
In God We Trust? There has never been more of an offensive statement as American’s do not trust in God nor do they have any faith in that sentinel being – the internal slaughter of their fellow man alone is testament to that fact.
Despite 2,000 years of indoctrination by the Church and other religious institutions, with no proof that a higher being exists, we continue to support religion and we continue to murder each other in its name.
On the one hand, the Americans are convinced that their supremacy lies within its military might and with the blessing of God whilst the Muslims believe that their ability to sacrifice, in the name of Allah, will prevail over all evils of the infidel.
With the Catholic Church having such wide sweeping powers across the globe and financial interests in almost every facet of commerce and industry, including arms manufacturing, banking and even pornography, you might question it’s peaceful, understanding and love for mankind.
In order to protect it’s position on the world stage and ensure it fully infiltrates every facet of the world’s political arena the Church has even managed to create its own sovereign nation. Yes, Vatican City is the only nation in the world that has been created by a commercial organisation.
If Microsoft or Google suddenly declared that they sought to inaugurate their campuses as an independent sovereign nation does anyone honestly think the United States Government would allow such a thing?
Of course not but such is the power of the Catholic Church, for this organisation is not just one that controls a billion people through indoctrination it is also one of the wealthiest commercial organisation in the world who are able to topple Governments.
Considering the track record of religion and our greater understanding of the planet on which we live and how it was created in the Universe is it not time that we put aside our foolish notions in any faith that has never been proven?
With the current levels of violence leveled at one another, and almost all in the name of some God, are we really the intelligent species that we are so keen on thinking we are?
Religion, it is clear, has no place in modern society and as long as it is allowed to exist millions of people around the world will continue to be slaughtered in its name.
Peace, love, understanding and above all forgiveness doesn’t really appear to be the objective; it is clear that the objective is unequivocal control through the indoctrination of lies.
