MAN DESCRIBES NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCES AS HE IS SURROUNDED BY ANGELS – It’s a fear that many of us don’t want to contemplate but from one man, Don Huston, 62, the nightmare of suffering a heart attack came true.
Don has a history of heart trouble so he was more than aware that he could suffer a life-threatening heart attack at any time.
Just before Christmas 2012 Don was going about his usual routine and preparing for the festive season. At the end of the day, and feeling weary Don retired for the night and then, during his sleep and without warning his heart stopped beating and he collapsed into cardiac arrest.
When Don awoke he was lying in a hospital bed recovering from a heart attack but Don provided an insight into this near death experience.
Don described how he was being kept alive by machines as he lay unconscious in the hospital bed. During this time Don said that he entered a room of pure white where in front of him stood a parade of Angels. It was surreal, calm peaceful but it didn’t, as Don reiterates, feel like a dream; it was very, very real and it was then that Don reported that God spoke to him.
Don told reporters that the Angels escorted him to a ‘door of second chances’ and as soon as he went through it was at that point that Don heard the voices of doctors and nurses calling his name and asking him to wake up.
Don can thank his wife, Rita Huston, for her fast reactions as she woke up to discover that Don wasn’t breathing and dialed 911. The emergency services provided Rita with information so that she could administer CPR while the paramedics were en-route.
Don, after arriving at hospital was in a pretty poor state and doctors at one point visited Rita in the ER waiting room to announce that there was no response from Don. It was then that Rita asked if she could sit by his beside and pray for him.
Don’s recovery shocked both doctors and nurses as they didn’t expect Don to wake up and yet when he did he then gave a full account of his near death experience.
According to Don he is now completely convinced that we are not alone and that something is out there waiting for us when we pass over.
I’ve always been a bit skeptical of these types of stories. However, in 2003 I invited my elderly neighbours around for dinner. The pair are a couple of real characters and with their growing old age were always able delight me with stories of the past and how they perceive life to be in their senior years – it always gave me a different perspective.
During this particular evening, after dinner, we were chatting about his health. He had two years before suffered a massive heart attack and required a quadruple by-pass. I was told that he, after a successful operation, was given approximately 5 years to live; the doctors explained that elderly patients, he was 73 at the time, with such an operation had a life expectancy of 5 or less years.
I asked him if the thought bothered him to which he replied; “Not in the slightest, because the other place is simply wonderful.”
It was obvious that he was referring to heaven and so I inquired as to how he knew. It was then that he told his story of how he died on the operating table; these are his words,
“I opened my eyes and I was standing just behind the surgeon. I could clearly see the inside of my chest and my heart was still. The doctors were hand massaging my heart; obviously trying to get it to beat again.
At this point I noticed two people standing next to me; all dressed in white. How wonderful they looked and then I spoke to the female and said; “It feels great not to hurt anymore.”
She smiled a warm and beautiful smile, took me by the arm and said, time to go back now. But I didn’t want to go back I wanted to stay; I had never felt so much peace.
She moved me gently towards the table and the next thing I remember was waking up in bed with the doctor standing over me.”
I have, over the years watched a number of documentaries where people have regaled in stories of near death experiences and whether these are fact or just a figment of the imagination one thing is crystal clear; it provides comfort for millions of people knowing that there is something beyond our mortal coil.
