MICROSOFT WINDOWS 8.1 OFFICIALLY RELEASED – Windows 8 experienced a rather lack-luster uptake due to a number of design features that Windows users didn’t like or the fact that the long established ‘start’ button was missing.
Microsoft has now officially released Windows 8.1 which sees the reinstatement of the ‘start’ button in a keynote conference in San Francisco earlier this week.
Currently there is a free trial update so that users are able to assess the changes and whether it is worth the upgrade price.
Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s CEO, also confirmed to the audience that the users favourite button ‘start’ was back and said it was there to stay.
I have to admit I’m not a big fan of Windows 8; it just looks too much like an Apple clone and lacks the familiar layout of the desktop which I and many other users are so accustomed to. I am still running Windows 7 and will continue to do so for the time being but initial reports are showing a favourable response to Windows 8.1.
According to Microsoft Windows 8.1 is not simply about reinstating the ‘start’ button but also adding more interactive features that allows the user to quickly navigate their videos, files, images and emails with increasing ease.
