MUSLIM FAMILY OUTRAGED OVER CHEESE AND ONION PASTY – You might have engaged in a double take a the headline but meebal.com can assure you what you’ve read is completely correct – a Muslim family have been outraged over a cheese and union pasty.
This issue was that they brought a pasty from Morrisons supermarket but after their son tucked into the tasty snack he complained that it didn’t quite taste right.
His parents were horrified to discover that the pasty wasn’t in fact cheese and onion as labeled but rather a meat and potato.
Muslim’s of course do eat meat but for them to do so it must be Halal and it was most unlikely that the meat contained within the pasty would have been butchered in accordance with strict Islamic religion; that is invoking the name of Allah before killing the animal.
It gets worse for when the parents telephoned Morrisons to complain the store manage apologized by offering them a bottle of champagne.
Again the parents reported that they had never felt so insulted as people should know by now that Muslims only eat Halal meat and they do not drink alcohol.
The Khan family from Cardiff were mortified at the thought that their 3 year old son Yousuf had consumed non-Halal meat and that Morrisons should be investigated for not ensuring proper labeling on their products.
The Khan family does have a point, to a degree, in that products should, and must, be labeled correctly. We do need to consider that some people are highly allergic to certain products, such as peanuts, and consuming such a product could cause death if medical treatment is not quickly sought out.
Meebal.com spoke to one Muslim who told us…
“A mountain out of a mole hill springs to mind. It is little wonder why Muslims are not exactly well liked in Britain when this type of news is splashed across the newspapers.
Yes we Muslims must not eat meat that was not slaughtered in accordance with scripture but doing so won’t exactly kill us.
As for the alcohol; well let’s just say that’s a bit of a joke for I have seen many Muslims engage in consuming alcohol.
It might have been better if this was just chalked up as a simple human error and left at that.”
The Khan family however feel that the British are ignorant of the Muslim faith and not once but twice they were insulted. Mr. Khan went on to say that he wanted this story to get out so that his Muslim brothers and sisters exercised caution when buying such products due to the ignorance of non-Muslims.
Due to what they feel is a humiliating blunder by Morrisons they have vowed never to shop there again.
A spokesman for Morrisons did provide a statement that apologized for the mix up and for any offense caused. Morrisons also stated that they take labeling extremely seriously due to health issues and this incident is being investigated.
