NATIONAL GRID WARNS BRITAIN COULD BE PLUNGED INTO DARKNESS THIS WINTER – According to the National Grid the UK is in peril of experiencing prolonged blackouts this coming winter due to reserves of electricity being halved this year due to EU legislation.
Yes once again the EU has its fingers on the pulse of Britain but instead of checking for its health the other hand is firmly wrapped around our necks, cutting off our oxygen supply.
Want to control a nation? All you need to do is to control the law, control the flow of money and finally control power supply – yes that’s all it takes and as the EU now controls all three we are forever having to bow down, take out the begging bowl and plead… please Sir may I have some more.
The National Grid has a ‘safety cushion’; that is there’s always 10 per cent of power in reserve to ensure that people can be supplied if usage demands increase – notably when it gets very cold.
However the EU with its continuous restrictions on the amount of coal and other fossil fuels that may be burned has now drained the National Grid to a point where only a 5 per cent safety cushion will be available.
EU legislation has effectively forced power companies to turn off certain power plants due to pollution concerns. Whilst this might appear admirable in terms of saving our environment it has not addressed the critical issue to find other alternative solutions.
It could be argued that if the British Government pulled out of the EU and stopped handing money over to every despot regime in Africa and around the world through foreign aid then Britain would have the financial resources to invest in the research and development required in order to create cleaner and greener power alternatives.
The situation is in fact worse… Due to ‘economic pressures’ a number of gas-fired plants that were planned have had to be scrapped. Again, pull out of the EU, scrap foreign aid and we would have the ability to develop.
We are also faced with the reality that our North Sea Gas reserves are also dwindling and now actually account for less than 50 per cent of the UK’s power supply.
Some fear that Britain simply has too many eggs in one basket or few baskets in this case, and is placing the country in real jeopardy of facing major blackouts across the country. These blackouts could easily be prolonged as demand continues to rise whilst supply rapidly falls.
Considering the real need to research and develop new sources of sustainable energy Ed Miliband’s recent party conference speech of freezing energy prices until 2017 if he is elected in 2015 is complete and utter madness.
The energy companies would be, as they detailed, heavily restricted into finding new ways to produce energy. Of course Mr. Miliband and his puppet master Len McClusky value only a socialist system of which never produces social harmony as in the text books.
According to the energy industry experts Britain needs to invest over £100 billion in keeping the energy requirement being met by demand. This investment includes the construction of new power plants and research and development into new and alternative energy sources.
Any move by Mr. Miliband to restrict this investment by freezing energy prices could have catastrophic consequences to the future supply of energy in Britain.
Whatever the course of action it is imperative that investment is made and whilst the Government continues to refuse subsidies for the building of new power plant and fails to acknowledge the restrictions placed on us by the EU the British public may well face a winter that requires going back to the days where our darkness is only broken by the power of the candle.
