NHS AND THE EXCESSIVE SALARIES IT PAYS TO TOP EXECUTIVIES – It will come as little or indeed no surprise to learn that a Government job, especially one at the top, will pay a very generous pay package.
It’s simple to spend other people’s money and when it comes to the taxpayer and Government spending the only thing ministers appear to be good at is wasting vast sums of the taxpayer’s money.
The Daily Telegraph recently undertook a survey and discovered that around 7,800 people working in the NHS are paid more than £100,000 a year and a staggering 2,600 earn more than the Prime Minister – David is remunerated to the tune of £142,500 which by my reckoning that about £120,000 over the top.
Alas when it comes to fleecing the taxpayer ministers really know how with some top executives earning over £340,000 a year. Considering that the average ward nurse earns £21,388 a year is it any wonder why the NHS is in a state of mismanagement and low morale.
While the Government continues to impose ‘austerity measures’ on the hard working taxpayer it appears these measure are not levied on everyone. The real problem with anything run by the Government is that it appoints too many people – the old saying ‘too many chiefs and not enough Indian’s’ springs to mind.
I would challenge anyone to find me one part of Government that does not waste money on too many staff which are all over paid.
Right now the Government are talking about cutting £20 billion from the NHS budget and yet if the NHS was privately run – on the same basis it is now, it would have gone bust years ago through ineffective management.
If the Government are serious about cutting out the waste then it needs to look at the number of people employed, what they do and more importantly how effective they are.
The sad truth is that David Cameron, like any politician doesn’t care – that was made clear when he refused to sack Sir David Nicholson. This I personally found more than a little offensive and David Cameron needs to be reminded that he works for people and it was they who wanted Nicholson out and therefore Cameron should have no say in the matter. Democracy… for the people by the people on a majority rule – I guess that’s something Cameron doesn’t really believe in.
While I’m angry at the situation I know nothing will get done, but I’ve had my rant and it’s up to my readers to comment and more importantly vote Cameron out in the next election – I’m sorry but the man is an unqualified idiot with no spine and he’s got to go. The issue is who to replace him? My money would be on a majority Government with Theresa May as leader of the Conservative Party.
