NHS BOSSES GET 13 PERCENT PAY RISE AS MORE PATIENTS REFUSED TREATMENT – Ask the Health Minister, Jeremy Hunt, on the current condition of the NHS and you’ll likely be regaled with stories that the NHS has sorted out the scandals, weeded out the inefficiency, eradicated incompetency but is still strapped for cash.
Our NHS over the last 2 years alone has been subjected to some of the worst press in history.
We’ve had stories of how Sir David Nicholson was responsible for the deaths of over 1,200 patients at the Mid-Staffordshire hospital, we’ve been subjected to media reports of NHS executives getting outrageous pay-offs and how NHS executives have been awarded higher paying jobs for attempting to cover up NHS staff failings.
Despite all the revelations nothing has been achieved; the NHS remains in a state of disarray, despondency among doctors, nurses and other staff members and all the while NHS bosses, despite the Government bleating on about austerity and lack of funds, still manages to award NHS executives with a 13 per cent pay rise since 2009.
The Labour Party has accused the Tories of complete mismanagement of the NHS and that the Tories simply cannot be trusted with our national treasure.
Unfortunately the Labour Party statement is likely to fall on deaf ears as during the last Labour Government they managed to almost bankrupt the NHS.
There can be no doubt that the NHS is in complete crisis for here is an institution that will provide surgery for a young woman to have breast implant, just so she can feel good about herself and hopefully boost her career, whilst a child is refused an operation that would help him to walk unaided.
Recently published figures have shown that NHS bosses really do have it easy and you wouldn’t think there was a recession when you look at how much they get paid. The average salary of a senior NHS manager is now £76,000 a year; that’s up by £10,000 a year from 2009/10.
Despite the Government announcing a pay-freeze on all public sector workers the NHS, headed by Sir David Nicholson, appears immune from cost cutting measures; well at least in relation to the NHS bosses pay-packets.
In order to promote greater efficiency in the NHS, Jeremy Hunt and Sir David Nicholson thought it a good idea to introduce a number of pay-related schemes; these included rewarding staff just for turning up – yes just showing up for work as you are paid to do appears justification for awarding a bonus.
I suspect they got this idea from Brussels as it is common knowledge that MEPs turn up at 6 pm and stay until 6.30 pm in order to collect their daily expenses allowance of €300 – and now you know why the Tories, Liberal Democrats and Labour Parties don’t want to pull out of the EU; it is after all their eventual meal ticket.
The NHS is hemorrhaging cash at the taxpayer’s expense and it not about to get any better; well not with the current Government at least. Last year the Government announced a £20 billion cost cutting plan and yet the cuts have come at the expense of patient care and not the hordes of middle or senior executive staff – the truth is that whilst a patient is dying due to the lack of ‘basic’ care the NHS executives are treated to fine dining and a lavish lifestyle at the taxpayer’s expense.
In order to protect their own jobs NHS executive have rationed non-emergency treatments, such as knee and hip replacement surgeries. Other so-called non-emergency treatments also cover cataract and hernia operations.
On top of that NHS executives have slashed over 5,000 nursing jobs and yet have the nerve to blame nurses for inadequate patient care.
“The health budget should be spent on patient care, not pay hikes for the already bloated NHS bureaucracy.” Matthew Sinclair, chief executive of the TaxPayers’ Alliance
I for one am all for paying doctors and nurses a decent salary as they both provide a critical service to the public. However the NHS has become bloated with incompetent executive, such as Sir David Nicholson, which can only result in one outcome – the cost of human lives.
Despite Sir David Nicholson’s failings the Prime Minister, David Cameron, refused to sack him and this only make me wonder what kind of dirt Sir David has on David Cameron for anyone who is allowed to cause the death of innocent people and walk away scot free is beyond comprehension or moral decency.
The Daily Mail today published a number of articles on the dirty dealings within the Labour Party and how Government officials, such as Tony Blair and Gordon Brown conduct themselves in order to ruin other people’s careers and to stay in power. Have a read for this is the true face of our politicians and you can freely take your tar brush and tar each and every one of them with the same brush whether it be the Tories, Labour of the Liberal Democrats for they are all the same. The 2015 General Election is fast approaching and I wonder how easily the British public will be conned this time around.
In the lead up to the 2015 General Election meebal.com is running a campaign to determine what the British public really wants. It is design to see if the British people really care and whether our politicians are really listening to what the British people want.
At the current rate of incompetence within the NHS you might think that the executives will eventually destroy the NHS but the truth is that this, or any other Government, is likely to continue increasing taxes so that they can continue to prop up the NHS and keep all their chums employed at the taxpayer’s expense and in the meantime carry on covering up their failings and patient deaths.
