Nick Clegg Knew of Sexually Abused Staff by Lord Rennard
As much as Nick Clegg has been trying to cover this up to protect his friend, Lord Rennard, it was pure investigative journalism that uprooted the truth and reported it to the general public.
According to Nick Clegg the Press is nothing more than ‘Self-appointed detectives’, a remark that has left Nick Clegg looking more than a little foolish.
As the Press have pointed out to Nick Clegg, that’s the idea of a ‘Free Press’ – to enable investigations into wrongdoings and uncover the truth. That may not always be the case and I for one will openly admit that the Press sometimes get it wrong, but without a ‘Free Press’ situations, such as Nick Clegg trying to cover up the sexual abuse scandal, would rarely come to light and the likes of Nick Clegg and Lord Rennard would be free to engage in any illegal activities that they liked.
We have already witnessed the views of Government and how they would like to silence the Press through the use of the Leveson Enquiry.

House of Lords Takes Steps to Kill the Freedom of the Press
According to reports a number of Tory and Labour MPs are shocked over Nick Clegg’s remarks, which, for some, clearly shows that Nick Clegg would be more than happy if we lived in a society that was controlled by a dictator which controlled state run media. Maybe Nick Clegg should move to North Korea if that is his true stance on how the news should be reported.
This scandal is now unfolding into something rather ugly and one that could well result in the public calling for Nick Clegg to stand down as Deputy Prime Minister.
It was on Monday 25th February that Alison Smith, a former Liberal Democrat, broke the story to the Press regarding Lord Rennard’s sexual abuse of junior staff, something that Nick Clegg was furious about as Alison Smith make it perfectly clear to the Press that Nick Clegg knew of these activities and yet tried to sweep them under the carpet.
David Cameron has now come out and told Nick Clegg that he must get to the bottom of these investigations and that any finding must be made open to the public.
One thing is for sure… the Press are not going to go away and their investigative journalist techniques are going to be fully utilized in order to dig out the truth and if that means Nick Clegg and Lord Rennard face legal action, imprisonment and the loss of their position then so be it.
It is the public’s right to know the truth and what goes on within the halls of power. By trying to cover up such a despicable act simple displays Nick Clegg’s contempt for the British Public and the Free Press.
