NORTH KOREA TESTS UNDERGROUND NUCLEAR DEVICE – In yet what is seen as another snub at UN sanctions North Korea has undertaken an underground nuclear bomb test that has generated an earthquake with a magnitude 4.9 – North Korea is not known for any such seismic activity.
It is believed that this test is yet another step forward in developing a nuclear warhead that could threaten peace and draw the entire world into conflict.
South Korean officials have continuously berated North Korea for its saber rattling in order to draw the opposing sides into war.
According to North Koreas official state media, the government has successfully conducted a nuclear underground test that was completely safe and is directly aimed at the U.S ongoing hostilities towards North Korea with ongoing sanctions against, what it refers to, as a peaceful nation that simply wants to exercise its right to launch satellites.
This act will no doubt go further into to applying even more sanctions after U.N Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon made a statement vilifying North Korea and stating this act was a clear and grave violation of the U.N Security Council Resolutions.
An emergency U.N Security Council meeting has now been called in what is believe will be further rounds of sanctions and with the remit of getting China onboard in the hope that its intervention may go some way into bringing North Korea under control.
North Korea leader Kim Jong Un has announced that it will make further tests in protest over the sanctions and its sovereign rights to conduct such tests.
There is no doubt that these are worrying times and the people of the region, including South Korea and Japan, are extremely concerned that existing sanctions are not working as expected and it is time to step up and impose sanctions that would make it impossible for North Korea to develop its nuclear program any further.
