PENELOPE SOTO APOLOGISES TO JUDGE AND IS APPLAUDED IN COURT – A young woman, 18 year old Penelope Soto was hauled in front of a District Judge in Florida recently for possession of a controlled substance.
The judge decided to teach Penelope to a lesson by setting her bail at $10,000 which resulted in Penelope giving the judge the ‘bird’ and saying, ‘f*** you’.
On hearing and seeing the insult the judge then calls Penelope back and finds her in contempt of court and orders her to 30 days in the County Jail.
In what has become almost an internet sensation, young Penelope appears again, just 5 days later in front of the same judge in order to offer her heartfelt apology saying in her defence that she was still under the influence of drugs.
In sentencing, under a different judge, the judge not only decided to release her on condition but also commended her for change of attitude which resulted in the court room and the judge giving young Penelope a round of applause.
The original judge, with whom she offered her offensive tirade, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat, on review, told Penelope that the young in society, while they feel that such behaviour is acceptable, often influenced by media, music and other social mediums, is in fact not acceptable and that a stand has to be made against those who think otherwise.
Let’s hope that Penelope Soto, as it appears, now has a little bit more respect for not only for the law but for herself.
