PRIME MINISTER CUTS TAXPAYER EXPENSE BY REMOVING BOBBY ON GUARD AT NO.10 AT THE WEEKENDS – It is a long-standing tradition to see a Bobby outside No.10 Downing Street. You could say it’s iconic and certainly there are millions of photographs on the interest to prove this fact.
Dave Cameron feels that the expense to the public needs cutting back and so as part of his austerity measures he’s decided that a bobby will no longer stand outside No.10 Downing Street at weekends.
As our Chancellor, George Osborne, famously said in his budget speech; “We are all in this together.”
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at their on-going incompetent and rhetoric. Austerity is not something any politician is familiar with and this is evident when you look at the vast salaries they get paid from the public purse and all the extras they scrap; including travel and dining expenses.
I have mixed feelings regarding the police officer that stands outside No.10 Downing Street. The fact that he or she is not really needed is a waste of public money and it has long been public knowledge that the outside of No.10 is heavily monitored by CCTV so yes it is a bit wasteful.
On the other side of the coin this is tradition we are talking about. Removing the iconic figure only goes to dilute our identity further and when you consider the overall cost it’s a drop in the ocean to what the morons inside No.10 are spending.
If the Government, or more importantly David Cameron and George Osborne, are really that intent on saving money for the British taxpayer wouldn’t it be more appropriate to reduce the salaries of all politicians.
We often hear how they think the British public should be able to live on minimum wage if they tighten their belts and spend appropriately so why can’t they do the same.
Why the rest of us are languishing in Cameron and Osborne idealism of ‘austerity’ the politicians are living it up at our expense. Indeed one of the reasons that Cameron feels it’s not longer necessary to have a police officer posted at No.10 during the weekends is because he’s either putting his feet up at Chequers or jet-setting off to warmer climates.
Austerity is just a word that the likes of Cameron and Osborne have come up with in order to brainwash the public into paying more taxes. Do you honestly think that David Cameron really cares that pensioners are dying from the lack of heating while he puts his feet up in front of a roaring fire at the country pile that the taxpayer funds?
Do you think that a Police Officer should be posted outside of No.10 Downing Street? Do you think it would be more appropriate for politicians to take a pay-cut in order to boost public moral over its austerity measures? Please leave your comments below.
