RON MUECK: STUNNING LIFE-LIFE SCULPTURES – The question here that begs asking is … are these the most life-like sculptures ever produced?
When it comes to re-creating the human form Ron Mueck attempts to make his sculptures as life-like as possible and after viewing his stunning work you have to admit that his work is not only stunning but indeed eerily and incredibly life-like.
Ron Mueck, who is based in London, used to be a model maker and puppeteer for children’s television shows and indeed film. One of Ron’s most notable tributes to film was the creation of the characters used in the movie The Labyrinth, starring David Bowie,.
Ron Mueck has been sculpturing fine art since 1966 and delights in creating the most realistic works of art.
The level of detail used in creating each sculpture is simply breathtaking and it’s easy to just take in the whole sculpture without looking deeper.
Stop for a moment and study each of the photographs and then closely scour the sculpture in detail. Note how the skin stretches and folds and that each hair is meticulously placed; even the pours of the skin are not overlooked – it is simply breathtaking how any individual can pay so much attention to detail that is often overlooked but essential in making a sculpture truly life-like.
Ron Mueck’s process of creativity starts with clay and then produces a plaster mould from the clay sculpture. Once the mould is produced he then makes up a mixture of fiberglass, resin and silicone.
Despite his incredible talent Ron Mueck shuns media attention, rarely gives interviews and often works alone in complete silence. His process produces the most incredible life-like sculptures in life-size, miniature and extraordinarily large but regardless to size each piece is meticulously created to look as real as possible.
I’ll leave you to look through the remainder of Ron Mueck’s work and I’m sure you will agree that each piece is truly life-like and completely stunning.
We hope you enjoyed looking through some of Ron Mueck’s work and will agree that his sculptures are truly a wonder to behold in their life-like depiction of people.
