SHAME ON THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT THAT BROUGHT ROBERT MUGABE TO POWER – Was there really ever any doubt that Robert Mugabe would retain power in the recent Zimbabwe Presidential elections?
The Foreign Secretary, William Hague, has reported that he is quite distressed over the recent re-election of Zimbabwe’s President, Robert Mugabe.
I doubt any politician or any member of the public around the world who has been following the elections in Zimbabwe will be the least bit surprised that Mugabe was re-elected. It was after all a foregone conclusion that the election was going to be rigged and those who didn’t play ball were likely to end up in a shallow grave; along with millions of others that have stood in the way of Robert Mugabe.
Of course there is one man we can blame for Mugabe’s rise to power and that is none other than one of the most crooked politicians the UK has ever given birth too; Mr Tony Blair.
It was in the 1980 Lancaster House Agreement that brought Mugabe to power. Within years of becoming the President of Zimbabwe Mugabe had murdered thousands of Matabele supporters of his rival, Joshua Nkomo.
Once Mugabe removed all opposition he set about raping the country’s finances and then turned his attention to the ‘white’ famers allowing their lands to be illegally confiscated and plundered; many white farmers were murdered in the process.
Under Mugabe’s management Zimbabwe quickly went from one of the largest exporters of wheat and tobacco to nothing which resulted in hyper-inflation of over 230 million percent plunging the country into economic ruin.
During the years of atrocities Tony Blair and his Government stood idly by and avoided the subject of Zimbabwe at all costs. Whilst most of those who know the past feel that Tony Blair should be deeply ashamed of his actions it is of course a widely known fact that you cannot shame a liar, thief, murderer or politician; it would be easy to slot Tony Blair into all the categories mentioned.
Looking back at Zimbabwe’s issues it is incredulous to believe that Tony Blair simply stood on the sidelines of the atrocities and yet was so keen to intervene in Sierra Leone and join forces with his master George W. Bush in the illegal invasion of Iraq.
It was surprising to see just how quickly Saddam Hussein’s justice was dispatched that left him swinging from a rope and yet despite the mounting evidence that Bush and Blair initiate an illegal war that culminated in the murder of thousands of innocent people, including service personnel and civilians, neither have been ever really questioned in depth. I suspect they both have so much dirt on so many other politicians that this quest for justice will never see the light of day.
With Mugabe now reported to have 61 per cent of the national vote it is most likely his next move will be to change the constitution and remove Morgan Tsvangirai’s Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Party from any part of government; allowing Mugabe to continue his ruthless rein of power over the country.
Whilst much of the country is bathed in poverty and its people in starving to death Mugabe lives like a king. With vast natural deposits of Diamonds, Gold and Nickle the Chinese are quickly moving in to exploit this and the only beneficiaries will be Mugabe and the Chinese Government.
Apart from imposing sanctions upon Zimbabwe there is little else the British or other Governments of the world can do; or at least that’s what the politicians report. Like all oppressive regimes Zimbabwe will reach boiling point and this is most likely to occur once Mugabe dies unless his henchmen and thugs can quickly rally to install the next dictator and carry on their oppression regime.
Do you think the UN should impose stricter sanctions or should we really leave Zimbabwe to sort its own problems? Please leave your comments below.
