SHOULD WE REALLY TAKE SIDES IN THE SYRIAN BLOODBATH? – The British, French and U.S Government is adamant that we should engage in missile strikes against the Bashar al-Assad regime with the purpose of removing a ‘tyrannical’ dictator.
The ruse for such a strike is that Assad has been accused of being responsible for the chemical weapons attack on his people in Damascus on 21 August this year.
The Russians remain firm in their belief that the attack was most likely carried out by the Syrian Rebel forces in order to garner sympathy from western nations and ultimately help them overthrow Assad.
We are being spoon feed the ideology that bombing Syria is right; dare I say even noble and moral. Unfortunately there are elements here that should force us to stay our hand as the executioner and listen to reason.
Western governments are fully aware that many factions within the Syrian Rebel forces consist of known Islamic terrorist groups; such as Al Qaeda.
This acknowledgement alone should make us realize that by removing Assad we would in effect be installing a terrorist organization into power. The question is do we really want to be responsible for such an atrocity?
Despite your views on this there still remains the issue of evidence. It is unquestionable that chemical weapons were used and despite the U.S insisting they have proof that Assad was responsible they have yet to provide such proof to the public.
For many this refusal to provide such proof is looking highly suspicious; it’s almost Iraq re-enacted where the U.S and British Government continued to cry wolf that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction and even fabricated evidence to that fact.
Assad may well be a nasty piece of work but who exactly are the Syrian Rebels and are they any better than Assad?
Last week international news broke on how a group of Syrian Troops were captured and summarily executed by the rebels. After dispatching the seven soldiers their bodies were then unceremoniously cast into a well.
Such an act is nothing less than barbaric and therefore we must question whether it is appropriate that the west engages in military action in order to help these people topple Assad.
Yet again, yesterday a number of Assad’s troops were caught by Syrian Rebels. The scene was one of pure barbarity as a large crowd gathered baying for the troop’s blood; and they got it.
Each victim was made to kneel and encircled by the blood thirty crowds. One by one they were executed by being beheaded.
Once their victims were decapitated the rebels would lift the head high as a trophy and scream and shout like savages in their victorious feat.
The baying crowds were made up of men, women and most disturbingly very young children. One has to ask if this is the group that we really want to help topple Assad.
Considering the horrific images in this article can any of us honestly say that the west should help these people succeed to power? Does anyone actually think that the Syrian Rebels, given this very clear proof of the atrocities they are prepared to exact on others, that they would be any better than Assad?
Syria is a country that despite its religious ranting that God is great will publicly murder someone without trial and without even the slightest sign of humility. I doubt very much, if any such God exists, that he or she would approve of such an act.
I wonder what President Obama and the British Prime Minister’s response to this barbaric act will be. Could it be conceivable that world leaders will look upon this act of barbarity and still think that removing Assad to install this group into power will really change the future of Syria?
Many now feel that it is clear that the U.S, Britain and France should close the book on any possible missile strikes on Syria and simply wash our hands of the situation for no matter who is in power it is most unlikely either will treat the people of Syria with any modicum of humility.
Cast your minds back to the aftermath of the chemical attacks. I am sure you remember the faces of all the dead children with relatives wailing and crying to Allah. This surely was an atrocity and yet here we have the same people subjecting their children to witness the execution of others; this is their classroom for this is their future, where one day they too will take up arms and with a sword in their hands strike down upon the neck of another human being and no doubt it will be sanctioned under the ‘will of Allah’.
No, I think it’s time the west fully realized that any action we take in Syria will only leave our hands stained with blood and simply removed one tyrannical dictator for a bunch of religious fanatics with swords and guns.
