SO GOOD TO SEE YOU WELL AGAIN YOUR MAJESTY – After being struck down with a stomach bug Her Majesty the Queen steps out of hospital looking positively radiant in red.
The Queen was released from King Edward VII Hospital this morning after just one day of being monitored by doctors and her personal physician, Professor John Cummingham.
Doctors advised Her Majesty that it would be prudent to take a week to full recuperate, however, in her true fashion of ‘sense of duty’ to her people the Queen was reported to be back at work full time, with a heavy schedule of meetings and royal engagements.
Her Majesty the Queen left the hospital this morning, thanking staff for their help and attendance.
It was initially planned that the Queen would be taken to Windsor Castle last night, but according to inside sources the Queen refused and instead insisted upon returning to Buckingham Palace so that she could be brought up to speed by her private staff on what needs doing, where and when.
While I appreciate that there are many who think the Monarchy is an arcane and outdated institution I feel these people lack an understanding of what the Queen represents and what she does for the United Kingdom.
Since taking the throne in 1952, after the death of her father, King George, Queen Elizabeth II has worked tirelessly for the people, with hundreds of meetings and engagements each and every year. At nearly 87 years of age, no monarch in history has ever achieved and given so much and still continues to do so regardless or her ailments.
The Queen’s raw tenacity is testament to her dedication to the British people and while there are very few occasions that I feel proud to be British, especially in the light of the conduct of our government, the Queen continues to bring me, and millions of her subjects pride in our heritage.
So good to see you well again your Majesty.
