TALIBAN TERRORIST ATTACK PALACE AND CIA HEADQUARTERS IN AFGHANISTAN – Reports are coming in that a Taliban suicide bomber has attacked both the presidential palace and CIA headquarters in Afghanistan.
The attack occurred at approximately 6:30am as a number of journalists gathered or a press conference with President Hamid Karzai.
Journalists reported continuous gunfire and numerous explosions that lasted for nearly an hour.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke rising from the downtown area of Kabul in which the U.S Embassy and headquarters of the CIA and NATO forces are situated.
Taliban leaders were quick to confirm their involvement through a text message that read; “We have brought death to the enemy.”
Whilst peace talks are due with the U.S and the Taliban it clear that President Karzai’s recent concerns over engaging in such talks with the terrorist group is not only dangerous but almost certainly fruitless as they continue to see the presence of the U.S led-coalition forces in Afghanistan as an intrusion.
There is growing concern among the British and U.S public for the safety of our troops with many voicing their views that foreign forces should be withdrawn and all forms of foreign aid cut off until the Taliban lay down their arms and are willing to talk peacefully regarding the move towards a more democratic state.
With the British and U.S now pushing for the lifting of the current arms ban in Syria so that they may arm the Syrian rebels the view is that this will further fuel Taliban and Al Qaeda abilities to carry out acts of terrorism against Western based organisations within the region.
Do you think that we should sit round the table and talk peace with the terrorists? Is is time to pull out of Afghanistan and let the deal with their own problems? Please leave your comments below.
