THE 2015 GENERAL ELECTION: WHAT DO YOU WANT? – We tend to be extremely skeptical of our politicians; but we have good reason to be.
How many times must we suffer months of debate and promises leading up to and the conclusion of a General Election only to be face with the reality that we just ended up voting in the next bunch of incompetent liars?
Yesterday meebal.com ripped into Nick Clegg after his party conference speech in which he applied his silver tongue in order to try and convince party members and the public that he was just an ‘ordinary’ working person like the rest of us.
Yes we at meebal.com took offense for none of us are ‘ordinary’ and Nick Clegg hasn’t got a clue on how the Government’s austerity measures have affected us; especially those suffering on minimum wage.
It is almost a foregone conclusion that the brigade of slick and fast talkers will hit the street in order to convince voters which box to tick, but how many of our politicians really understand what the public wants?
I would venture to say that they have a vague idea but it’s unlikely to go beyond that. The British public has been begging this Government to provide a referendum on Europe. What has been achieved? David Cameron has promised an EU referendum in 2017 but that’s only if he is re-elected.
This surely is nothing less than contempt for the British public, contempt for democracy and nothing short of political blackmail.
Despite this David Cameron and Nick Clegg will tell you that they understand the mood of the British public; that is they have their finger firmly on the pulse of the people.
If that was the case then they would know that the pulse is dropping for they are almost killing off the British people by introducing ever tightening austerity measures whilst squandering our money of foreign aid and the European Union.
This article is also a little bit of an experiment for meebal.com would like to find out if the British people actually care about who is running the country and what are the important issues.
What we would like our readers to do is to leave a comment below stating ONE thing they want the next government to change.
It could be education improvements, stopping foreign aid, pulling out of Europe, closing our borders – in fact the one thing that is most important to you as an individual with a voice and more importantly a democratic vote.
What we will do is collate this information and then promote our findings on a follow up article and then we’ll contact all the major parties and A) See how many of them will actually bother to read what you think and; B) Whether any of them are prepared to act on the issues that are most important to you.
So… all you need to do is:
List ONE thing you want the next Government to tackle and;
Share this article so that more people are aware of this campaign and get to have their say.
Remember that the fundamental principle of democracy is that the majority voice of the people should prevail. Yes it could be argued that Britain hasn’t seen any remnants of democracy in decades but that doesn’t mean it cannot be revived by the people for the people.
Go ahead, have your say.
