THE POWER BEHIND A WISH - When we were children we made wishes on stars and as we blew out the candles on our birthday cake. They were simple and often spoken in the spur of the moment. We didn’t put a lot of thought into them until we got older and realized the power behind a wish. Sometimes a miracle happened.
This is what Make-A-Wish is all about; becoming the power behind a wish. Children are happy, it is their nature and somehow as we grow up we lose that happiness. Children see the good in people, complain very little and nearly always speak only kind words. It is this internal optimism that helps parents of chronically or terminally ill children cope.
Most of us know that having a sick child can wear you down, but usually they get better and life goes on. For these children and their families, there is no getting better and being tired becomes the new way of life. There are many support groups that cater to specific conditions, but Make-A-Wish is there for everyone.

Since 1980, more than 250,000 children have had their wishes come true. When the organization began many of the children were in the final stages of their illnesses and passed away shortly thereafter.
Whether the wish is a trip to see snow or swim with the dolphins; becoming a pilot or a princess for the day or maybe spending time with John Cena-your favorite WWE wrestler, or shaking hands with the President of the United States, each wish is unique and means something magical to every child.
