TIRED OF BEING POOR? HERE’S 10 THINGS YOU COULD DO TO GET RICH – I’ve heard the old cliché that money doesn’t bring you happiness a million times; but this is often from people who live a pretty lavish lifestyle and have not the slightest idea what it’s like to scrap by year on year.

The trouble is with obtaining wealth, and I mean real wealth, the type of money where you can buy a Rolls Royce, without having to worry about the cost, takes effort, real effort and that’s not something we are all cut out for.

In my 10 Things You Could Do to Get Rich, there is a mixture, some of which will take almost no effort and others that will require time, patience and a lot of hard work.

No.1 Win the Lottery

This has to be the easiest route there is to making a vast sum of money.  Simply pop down to your local store and purchase a lottery ticket and if your numbers come up then you’re in for the ride of your life.

The truth is that millions of people do the lottery every week but very few people ever hit it big, that is hit the jackpot.  Of course someone is going to win and why not you?  I have to say I don’t do the lottery as I view this as a fools game due to the massive odds against you not winning.  The other reason I don’t do it is because this type of wealth has a tendency to generate a lot of jealous among family and friends. If you earn wealth people generally have better appreciation of you and what you have achieved, but winning it just doesn’t generate any type of respect – not that you would care because you are rich right?

No.2 Marrying Money

This one is not exclusively for the girls, although from some of the tabloids I’ve read over the years it might appear the case.

There are some very attractive girls that have married men old enough to be their grandfathers due to his wealth and there are also lots of young men that have married much older women for the same purpose.

If you have the looks and can pull it off then marrying into money can be one very easy route to an extremely comfortable lifestyle.

The downside is having to put up with your spouse.  If you didn’t marry for love, then the chances are you are not going to be overly keen on your partner and waiting around for him or her to shuffle off their moral coil could take decades – can you really deal with living with someone you hate for decades?

Of course if people feel that you have married for money then you will be despised and not just by friends but family members as well.  You will be labeled as a ‘gold-digger’ and no doubt be shunned at every opportunity – still that probably won’t matter because just think of all that lovely money.

No.3 Inherit Money

Well most of us who are in the poor house don’t have wealthy relatives so this counts most of us out.

However, if you do have a wealthy relative you could always do your utmost to get close and help them with whatever they want and therefore become indispensable to their lives and almost assuring you to a cut of the will.

There is one setback here… the old saying goes; ‘Where there’s a will, there are relatives.’ This means that any intentions you may have will be treated with suspicion of simply wanting to get your mitts on the green stuff.  They’ll watch you like a hawk because their ultimate goal is the same as yours… getting the inheritance.

No.4 Getting a Reward

Now you might think that I’ve gone totally gaga and lost the plot but I tell you it’s true.  Remember when the hunt for Osama Bin Ladin was on?  The reward for his capture, dead or alive, was a cool $25 million.

If you are one of those people with an investigative mind and likes to solve crime this could be just the thing you are looking for.  Just take a look around the FBI website and you’ll see that there are many ‘wanted criminals’ that carry a hefty reward.

The only issue with this is that it will take a very sharp mind, lots of travel and can be extremely dangerous. Never mind the danger, just think of all that love cash!

This is obviously hard work and it’s not for everyone.  In fact it can also be extremely expensive.  The U.S Government put up a bounty of $25 million for Bin Ladin, but with all their resources and millions of dollar it took years to track him down.  In fact it probably cost the U.S Government close to ten times the amount being offered in reward money.

This is not an easy profession.

No.5 Start a Business

No seriously, why not start your own business.  One of the easiest routes you can take is an online business.  Not only is it incredibly easy to get a website up and running it’s also pretty damned cheap.  Did you know you could have a website just like Meebal.com up and running for less than $200?  It’s true, honestly!

The only problem with this is the amount of work it takes for a website to become successful.  Yes I’ve heard people talk about the billions that can be made and they are right, but this is for a very small minority of websites.

For every Facebook there are probably 10 million websites that are barely scraping a living or about to fold.  Don’t be fooled by the illusion that a website brings automatic wealth.

To make it and make it really big you’ll need to come up with something that the masses want, such as Facebook.  Try sitting down with a pen and paper and look at problems people face every day, like how to get rich, and then work out solutions.  Once you have a solution to a problem you have yourself a business.

There are some websites that take off every quickly, that is the idea is so good that everyone tells everyone and before you know it you have millions of visitors.  In the real world most websites take 2 to 3 years of pounding away at the keyboard before they even start making enough money to pay a modest salary.

It’s tough online but it’s even tougher if you don’t love what you do, so make sure, if this is the route to riches you want to take, that you do something you love.

No.6 Trade in Stocks and Shares

It’s actually very easy to get started, even with a modest amount of money.  There are lots of online trading sites where you can open an account and start trading and many of these now offer training or dummy accounts that you can practice with prior to risking real money.

I have heard numerous stories of people who have made vast sums of money by trading stocks and shares online.  I have also heard as many stories relating to people that have lost everything.

Trading stocks and shares takes time and dedication as you’ll need to study the markets carefully.  The ultimate thing to remember is that this is a form of gambling – there are not sure things in the world of stock markets and therefore the risks can be very high.

No.7 Invent a Product

If you are one of those creative types then why not invent a product?  As with the idea of a website the practical approach is to locate a problem that people have and design something that will fix it.

Depending on the type of product you invent will determine overall costs, for example to invent something small, such as a new can opener is relatively cheap, but to invent some kind of new combustion engine is going to be outrageously expensive.  Think carefully and if you are very creative then you can always make your ideas bigger after a few successes.

One real danger of inventing things is that other people may want to steal your idea; especially if it’s a very good one.  Therefore you will need a lawyer and you will need to get a Patent for your idea.

No.8 Develop an App

You will be amazed at how many Apps there are on iTunes alone and many of these make their developers vast amounts of money.

There is software available for App development along with loads of books you can buy that will teach you how to develop them.  The great thing about this is that it is very cheap to get started and with a creative mind you can come up with all sorts of great Apps that millions of people around the world would want to buy.

Before you rush off and start bashing away at the computer keyboard remember to do your research first.  As with other suggestions above; if you can find a niche or rather a solution to a problem, then you stand a good chance of making money.

Research will also pay off in another area, that being what’s available.  If you end up developing an App that’s already available then you had better make sure it offers a lot more than the current offering otherwise people will stick with the App they already have.

No.9 Create a Computer Game

If you are one of those geeks that is a real whiz on a computer and you have a creative flare then creating a computer game could well be your ticket to becoming super rich.  There are simply loads of millionaires and multi-millionaire out there that have made their money from creating a game that the masses love to play.

Remember, from small Acorns the mighty Oak will grow.  Take a look at Electronic Arts (EA) that multi-billion dollar company was started by just one person.

You will of course have to have a huge amount of skill, when it comes to writing computer code. Then there are all the graphics to create, so you’ll need to be extremely adept at using various types of software.  Like anything else in life, if you have the aptitude for it, then learning these skills can be great fun and easy.

No.10 Become Famous

There are many ways you could become famous and remember everyone starts somewhere.  Tom Cruise was once unknown, but with perseverance and hard work he has become one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood.

Fame is not restricted to movies stars, think of all the musicians and those who write books.  Go back a few years and who had heard of J.K. Rowling?  Now of course she is a household name with her Harry Potter series of books and movies; and yes she’s a billionaire.

Before I close of this section, think about what I said in No.5 Starting a Business – there are also lots of people that have become famous on the back of their business interests.  Take Sir Richard Branson, now there’s a guy who knows how to promote his businesses and he’s certainly pulled some stunts over the years, from dressing up as a bride to flying around the globe in a balloon.  All these stunts have not only made his businesses highly successful but also made him extremely famous.

Will you become the next billionaire?

That of course is entirely down to you.  It’s no good sitting there dreaming of that Ferrari or Private Island in the Caribbean, if you really want these things then you must take action and find something you are good at and then milk it for all it is worth.

Unless you can win the lottery or inherit vast wealth then you have a simply choice in life to make… get off your backside and do something or sit there and dream about what you might be able to achieve.

It is sometimes very difficult to get motivated, so here’s a tips.  Think of all the things you want, such as a Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Super Yacht… you know all those things only the super rich can afford.  Now get yourself some pictures, print them out and put them on the wall.  I actually have a picture of a Super Yacht called Red Square.  The price tag is $100 million and it’s the most beautiful yacht I have ever seen.  My goal is to one day own it and live the life of luxury… why not?  If you don’t have a goal then there’s no reason for wanting to make money.
