Support our petition to ban Halal slaughter in Britain. The practice of slaughtering animals for religious purposes is both draconian and barbaric and it is only ‘religious sensitivity’ from our politicians that has prevent Halal meat from being banned.
Sack Culture Secretary Maria Miller – This petition is to call upon the Prime Minister, David Cameron, to dismissed Maria Miller over her mortgage expenses scandal.
The EU is now making moves, through a new directive, that would effectively quash net neutrality. Net neutrality covers three core principles which allows the internet to remain free and open. Destroying net neutrality will deny you your democratic rights to access free and open information. Don’t let this happen.
Vivian Imerman Agrees to $15m Divorce Settlement
VIVIAN IMERMAN AGREES TO $15M DIVORCE SETTLEMENT – Vivian Imerman, notably more famous as the “Man from Del Monte” has apparently said ‘Yes’ to a divorce settlement to his wife Liza Tchenquiz for a cool $15m.
Now for the average Joe, and I’m one of them, this is a vast sum of money but is a far cry from the original $100m that she was seeking.
Vivian Imerman sold out his Del Monte Drinks Empire a few years ago for the very tidy sum of $380m so the settlement is not exactly going to hurt his wallet.
One the real winners, in all of this are the lawyers, who on both sides, has amassed a legal bill for just over $5m a piece.
The divorce battle has been raging between the two in what is reported as the longest and most bitter of divorce battles the UK has ever seen and has even led to a change in the law, known as the ‘Cheat’s Charter’ whereby wealthy individuals are able to hide assets from their estranged spouses.
I have to be honest; I have never really understood how the law can award such vast settlements to a spouse, especially in the light that she wasn’t responsible for earning the money. I do agree however that a spouse, regardless of gender, should walk away with a proportion but only to what they themselves have earned, or helped to earn.
What really amazes me is that with the number of ‘High Profile’ divorces, such as Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, why prenuptial agreements are not more widely used. It just appears so easy for wealthy people to walk in and out of a marriage and I supposed that when you are this wealthy it is irrelevant.
The question remains, does his ex-wife really need $15m to support her lifestyle? When you look at the growing trend of people giving away their wealth to charities, such as Sir Richard Branson, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and others, it makes me wonder just how greedy some people are and this is evident in the length of some divorce proceedings.
There is no doubt in my mind that this recent divorce settlement will quickly be preceded by another high profile couple looking to end a turbulent relationship and no doubt this too will involved ridiculous sums of money.
