WESTGATE SHOPPING MALL EYEWITNESS DESCRIBES ADULTS CLIMBING OVER CHILDREN TO ESCAPE – A child’s life is supposed to be the most precious of all things and yet when people are faced with the fear of death the protective instinct is sometimes relinquished with self-preservation taking over.
This is the horrifying story of Kamal Kaur, a survivor of the Westgate Shopping Mall terrorist attack.
In an in-depth interview with the BBC Kamal Kaur explains that she was hosting a cookery competition in which some 33 children were in attendance; including her own son and daughter.
As the terrorist began firing Kamal Kaur told the BBC that she commanded all of the children to get down and huddle in the corner.
As the gunfire intensified a number of children were injured as adults literally climbed over the children, or worse used them as leverage by climbing on top of them so that they could escape over the wall.
During the attack Kamal Kaur described the scene as pure panic and in the course of the attack both her children were injured; along with herself.
One person grabbed her daughter and ferried her away after her leg was badly injured and yet she could only stay and protect the other children; hoping and praying her daughter was safe.
Kamal Kaur said that she couldn’t believe how many of the adult behaved; they were nothing more than animals, according to Kamal Kaur, as they stepped on children, some so very young, in order to save their own lives.
Kamal Kaur’s colleague at the cookery competition, Ruhila Adatia was six months pregnant; she and her unborn child were murdered by the terrorists during the attack.
On returning home Kamal Kaur took to her Twitter account and heavily criticized those adults who climbed over innocent children to save their own lives:
“I just washed my hair and wailed like a child. Blood in my hair. Not mine. That little boy who died right next to me…” Kamal Kaur Twitter
In another tweet Kamal Kaur describes the peril of her son:
“My son almost had his head blown off. Missed by an inch. Hit wall. Bounced and killed the little boy next to him. Kamal Kaur Twitter
The Kenyan Government has claimed that troops have taken control of the Westgate Shopping Mall where more than 60 people have been killed and over 170 injured.
There are also reports that the British ‘White Window’ may have been one of the terrorists killed in the attack; but as yet these reports are unconfirmed.
The revelations of Kamal Kaur are bound to send shockwaves around the world and horrify people into how anyone could possibly put themselves ahead of an innocent child’s life.
