WHAT ARE YOUR LIFE GOALS AND HAVE YOU ACHIEVED THEM? – According to a recent study the age of contentment of us British is 37 years of age. That, according to researchers, is when most men and women reach their life goals.
The chart below gives an insight as to how men and women perceive life differently, however it does clearly indicate that men and women put money before love. That is of course quite understandable considering the material world in which we now live.
With the increase in technology that has made our lives easier and faster it appears that we do want more out of life and to a degree it’s selfish needs that take the front seat.
There are very few people who are truly content; there is always something that we want to own or want to achieve.
Form the chart I have to admit I was surprised to see that women, in general, don’t have any aspirations for owning a successful business whereas men would like to achieve this life goal by the age of 36.
We all want financial security, the study clearly indicates that and many of us would love to be in a position that allows us to own a dream home and move to another country – considering the way Britain is going this trend of moving abroad is growing at a phenomenal rate.
The ideal marrying age for a woman is 27 but the study indicates a conflict here as men perceive the ideal marrying age to be 29.
Researchers questioned 2,000 men and women in order to determine their life goals and at what age they feel such goals should be reached.
Travel is also high on the list and as travel becomes faster and easier with developing technologies the world really does appear to be our oyster.
The female sector claimed that they considered a successful career by the age of 31 as a high priority on the list of their life goals, which in turn would provide them with financial security and the dream of owning a beautiful home.
The research did provide a very upbeat result in that over 35 per cent of those questioned were confident that their life goals would be achieved; however 5 per cent of men were more confident than compared to their female counterparts.
Success is also perceived differently between the sexes; or rather the reasons behind success. Over half the women questioned felt that success would afford their children a better start in life; less than half the men considered this an important factor in striving for success.
Of all the results the highest age to reach a life goal was that of 41 years of age and was with the men looking to be financially secure.
As I rapidly approach my 50th year I can at least pass on this… Never think you are too old to achieve a life goal. Every day is a challenge and every day is different. Even today I still seek out financial independence and dream of retiring in the sun with my golf clubs.
