WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE OIL FINALLY RUNS OUT? – Since the development of mankind we have gone through a series of ‘ages’ and with each of these we have developed to allow a growing population that lives longer and consumes more of our natural resources.
The Industrial Revolution driven and fueled by coal was the real beginning of mankind’s push to dominate every corner of the globe and with the discovery of oil this became a reality. There are now over 7 billion people on the planet and everyday moment of our lives is controlled by oil in some way, from the cars that we drive to the food that we eat – all of it depends on oil in order to be produced.
Mankind is not in a race against time as it tries to find new ways to produce enough energy to support the world’s ever increasing population and a population with increasing life expectancy.
We know that the world’s oil will not last forever. There is no denying the fact that wars are already breaking out in the Middle East with the sole intention of securing oil rights for the coming years. Iraq was invaded, not to free the people from Saddam Hussein’s vice like dictatorship, but rather remove him so that the U.S and the UK has easier access and control of the oil fields.
If we look at any map of the Middle East it is clear to see that the U.S and other Western countries are strategically surrounding Saudi Arabia in preparation for when other oil reserves run dry – it must control the flow of oil if Western society is going to survive.
So what does happen when the oil finally runs out? What will be the fuel of the future, wind or solar powered electricity or greater diversity in bio-fuels?
Take a look at the video above as this gives an excellent scenario of what will happen to society once the oil fields finally run dry and how mankind, if it is to survive, finds new ways to fuel industry and our daily lives.
