WHO SUFFERS WHEN THE US GOVERNMENT SHUTS DOWN? The US Government is holding its people hostage!
Yes, that is how I see this recent turn of events; for although the government has declared a “shutdown,” the government itself has not shut down. What has happened is that National parks, zoos and museums have been closed- leaving their employees with no paycheck and an uncertain job future, workers in agencies deemed “essential” are still expected to work but will not get paid until after the shutdown has ended and those in “non-essential” agencies are now furloughed.
What it comes down to is that a large percentage of the American public will not be paid until there is enough pressure put on lawmakers to pass funding for Obamacare; and this has been done by order of the President.
Obamacare is the President’s healthcare baby that he has been shoving down the public’s throat since he came into office and to sum it up in a nutshell; Obama and his followers call it “healthcare reform” that will allow everyone health care regardless of income or past and current health issues, for no one can be refused.
In reality, Obamacare means that no one will be allowed the choice of whether or not they want healthcare. If your employer does not provide what the government considers “adequate coverage” you will be forced to subsidize it with a government plan to bring it up to snuff. If you are a student, work part-time, are self-employed or retired and do not have healthcare you will be forced to buy it from somewhere.
You will no longer be able to choose not to have healthcare, for if you do it will cost you big money; yes, that is right, the government will fine you if you do not have healthcare.
Who wouldn’t want healthcare, you ask? Why many healthy twenty to forty year olds is the answer. The majority of people in need of healthcare are families with small children, anyone of any age with health conditions and the elderly whose health needs are changing as they get older. There is a large section of the public who are healthy and are not visiting the doctor who would rather spend their money as they choose and who do not consider healthcare as a priority.
To the President and many others, this is seen as ludicrous and irresponsible; for anything can happen to these otherwise healthy Americans and they could find themselves in a financial bind from an unforeseen medical emergency. While this is true, it is rare and studies have proven it.
So, why has the President and his groupies decided that the only way to push their agenda is to shut down parts of the government? For one thing, by creating additional stress in an already strained economy, the goal is to squeeze the working class even harder in hopes that they will give up simply to get their lives back. Americans are in a crisis; unemployment is high, the education system is failing our children, spending is out of control creating a debt that can never be paid and there is little faith in the current administration.
Much of America is crying out for a leader who will find answers to the problems, while the rest of Americans doubt that such a leader exists.
In an effort to leave behind a legacy worthy of mention in history books, Obama is struggling to show that he is a leader and that he has the capability of accomplishing at least one task while in office. Unfortunately, his methods are proving that he is a maniacal dictator who will stop at nothing when it comes to his healthcare agenda.
Which leads us back to today’s partial shut-down of government services; yep, definitely a strong arm tactic done in the hopes that this action will send shockwaves of fear around the country and result in Washington being flooded with phone calls and e-mails demanding that there be a resolution and soon.
Well Mr. President, I for one have been calling, writing and even signing petitions; not in favor of Obamacare, but in seeking answers and changes to what little is known about your proposed program. Is our Government not meant to work for the people rather than dictating to the people? Since it is the taxpayers who are needed to fund Obamacare, why do you ignore our concerns?
It pains me to see how you continually tried to slide this healthcare initiative past lawmakers; hiding pieces of it in bills that had nothing to do with healthcare. To date, not one member of Congress has even read the entire bill, and what they have read has so many loopholes and rabbit trails that it is still unclear how it will affect us as Americans. From day one, Obamacare has been cloaked in secrecy and lies.
Let’s not forget to mention that you and any future Presidents, along with members of Congress are exempt from participating in Obamacare and is it any wonder that it has not been accepted with cheers and hopeful faces from the rest of us?Who wants to dump money into a program that is not clearly seen as a benefit and when the future implications are still unknown?
So today Mr. President, your response to the public wanting answers and showing their lack of support is to once again cripple the country you represent even more by closing down agencies that instill national pride and causing other agencies to force their employees to work without pay.Bravo!!
Oh, and do I dare mention that you are blaming the Republicans, rather than taking responsibility for your own actions?
Healthcare is important and reform is needed, in that you are correct; but to become a bully and forcing a program on the country that it does not want and then expecting us to pay for it is too much!
This country is a democracy and no matter how hard you push, you will never become King. You cannot cripple us, nor can you take us prisoner. Today’s actions may have seemed like a smart move yesterday, but rest assured the outcome will not be what you expect. You might be smiling and rubbing your hands right now thinking you have us by the balls, but it is not over until it is over Mr. Obama.
In fact, in a few years you will be gone and anything you have forced upon us can be reversed, changed or eliminated. Yes, there is coming a time when the promise of hope and change will finally come true.
