WINTER DEATH TOLL EXPECTED TO HIT 24,000 PENSIONERS – Charities are warning the Government that with the recent rise in fuel prices and the decreasing Government fuel allowance it is almost certain that 24,000 or more vulnerable pensioners will die from the cold this winter.
Charity groups have also stated that their research suggests some three million pensioners are worried about keeping warm this winter with a further six million concerned about the recent escalation in fuel bills.
Despite the worries of Charity groups there are some in Government, namely Alan Milburn, who feel the Government should cut heating allowance for pensioners in order to save the Government money.
The cold is a killer, especially for the elderly. Most people are not aware of just how devastating the cold can be but in fact it increases the risk of flu, chest infections and other respiratory illnesses.
Heart attacks and strokes also become a problem as the cold attributes to high blood pressure – yes getting cold when you are older can be a death sentence and yet despite this knowledge the likes of Alan Milburn would like to prevent pensioners from getting any help.
It would be easy to admonish Alan Milburn for his views because it appears that he is unconcerned that thousands of pensioners will die this winter and in fact if the Government did stop the heating allowance then this figure would rise exponentially.
I doubt very much if there is a single MP or Minister whose parents or grandparents are facing the harsh realities of winter and therefore when it is not staring you in the face it’s often easy to be contrite to the situation of those less fortunate.
You might be asking why any Government Minister or MP would suggest such a thing; after all are we not supposed to be living in a society that cares for one another – isn’t that the purpose of welfare?
The truth is that the welfare system has been so badly abused by our developed culture of ‘entitlement’ that it is now not only at risk of collapsing but will bring about the downfall of the British economy as we know it.
If you want to point the finger at anyone then grab a mirror for you, like millions of others, are directly responsible. Government is pressured by public opinion and winning an election is often decided by which party offers the public most in benefits.
You can get pregnant, take time off work and get paid. You can have children and receive an allowance. You can be out of work and get paid. You can get old and get paid. You can get sick and be healed and paid.
Yes, almost every facet of the social structure is driven by welfare from the cradle to the grave.
Earlier today we published an article on the likes of Natalie Cann, her partner Leigh Miller and their brood of ten children; all living off the backs of the taxpayer.
If ever there was a personification of what is wrong in British society today it is Natalie Cann, her partner Leigh Miller for neither have any intention of working but rather just reproducing so that the taxpayer continues to support them and their growing brood.
Nearly all pensioners today worked hard and paid into the pensions system so that they would receive a monthly allowance and have their care and medical issues taken care of.
However, the treasury has been plundered by incompetent politicians and a society who feel they are ‘entitled’.
We must adopt a new policy of welfare. Above all we need now to declare to anyone under the age of 40 that no pension will be made available.
As for families like Natalie Cann, her partner Leigh Miller all welfare payments need stopping – if that means putting their children into care and turfing Natalie Cann, her partner Leigh Miller onto the streets then so be it for if they don’t want to work then they should not be entitled to cash from the taxpayer.
You might think that this is all so severe but the truth is that this is nothing compared to what is coming and that is a complete meltdown of the British economy.
When it happens there will be no money and the likes of Natalie Cann, her partner Leigh Miller will be forced to find work but the real tragedy will be that our elderly will die by the tens of thousands per month simply because they have no way of earning living and therefore providing for themselves.
Frankly we are taking care of the wrong generation through ‘entitlement’ at the expense of the most vulnerable in our society.
