WORLDWIDE TERROR THREAT AFTER MASS AL QAEDA JAIL BREAKOUTS – In the latter part of last week the U.S Intelligence services received a tip-off that a number of Embassies worldwide would be targeted for a terrorist attack.
It has now been revealed that Al Qaeda orchestrated a number of prison breakouts and succeeded in freeing some 1,500 Al Qaeda prisoners from jails including Abu Ghraib, in Iraq and the al-Kwyfah, in Libya; plus a number of other facilities across the Middle East.
All Western Embassies around the world have been put on high alert with a number in the Middle East being closed.
In Yemen foreign citizens were advised to leave the country for their own safety as attacks may occur during the festival of Eid; which will take place this coming week.
As yet there has been no confirmation from the intelligence services, of any country, as to how they managed to gather the information although it is suspected to have come from the interception of communications of the terrorist network.
The British Government have announced that embassies in most of the Middle East, including Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Iraq will remain open and operate as normal; although it has advised embassy staff to exercise extreme caution and remain on high alter for any possible terrorist attack.
The U.S Government yesterday gave a stark warning to U.S citizens both at home and abroad to remain vigilant as it approaches the anniversary of the 9/11 attack in 2001.
There remains little doubt in my mind that the theater of war with terrorist organisations will never play out as in a conventional war. The very ideology of terrorism is to inflict casualties without the victims seeing it coming; we simply have little idea who and who is not a terrorist living amount us and our laws prevent, in most cases, preventative action.
Whilst terrorists continue to carry out the most heinous acts of violence against the innocent there are those who believe that places such as Guantanamo Bay are inhumane and against the Human Rights Convention; little is ever discussed from these groups of the atrocities those imprisoned in such facilities have undertaken.
In order to hit at the heart of terrorism western Government’s need to change tact and take the war of terror to those who instigate it. This does not mean carpet bombing particular countries but rather elite groups continuously hunting down known terrorist through solid intelligence; something the western Government’s have failed to do with any measurable advancements in reducing terrorist numbers.
We often think of capture and incarceration and yet whilst capture provides the extraction of more intelligence it should, once gathered, result in a swift execution. Incarcerating terrorists, as we have witnessed on several occasions, is not the answer to reducing the number of terrorist at large.
How bad is terrorism in modern society? Take a look at the video above and it is clear that terrorists are devoid of any compassion and will readily send children to their deaths in order to fulfill their objective of Jihad.
You cannot reason with a terrorist, there are no avenues to peace talks; both have clearly been demonstrated by terrorist in the past and yet western Government’s still believe that dialogue is the key to peaceful co-existence whilst terrorists continue to believe that exterminating all Westerners is the only route to creating a peaceful world.
Do you think the West needs to change its tact on dealing with terrorists or should we engage in more dialogue to bring about peace? Please leave your comments below.
